LinkedIn says AI slop posts aren’t getting as many eyeballs as they used to \u2014 and suspected offenders will also start getting some feedback.<\/p>\n

Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn’s chief product officer, said “overall members are now experiencing 40% less views” on what the professional networking site classifies as AI slop compared to a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n

“Despite the progress, we know we have more to do to ensure LinkedIn remains a place where you can find real people & real perspectives… this all remains very top of mind,” Srinivasan wrote<\/a> in a recent post on the platform.<\/p>\n

Srinivasan said over one million people have clicked the “seems like AI slop”<\/a> button on suspected posts and comments since LinkedIn launched it on July 30.<\/p>\n

At the time, Srinivasan stressed that the platform focused on users providing feedback to other users rather than relying on an automated detector.<\/p>\n

“We want members to get feedback from real humans on what sounds authentic – not just have an AI detector review it and get it wrong,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Srinivasan said that if a post “enough community feedback,” LinkedIn is now highlighting that fact via a message in Post Analytics “to help you understand how your content is being received.” He also said that LinkedIn has “built safeguards” to help protect its users from other members unfairly targeting their content.<\/p>\n

“We approached this assuming good intent; I know I’m increasingly conscious on how to not sound like AI & the goal is to provide helpful feedback,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Recently, other platforms, including Substack and YouTube, have sharpened their stances on AI-generated content<\/a> as tools like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT proliferate.<\/p>\n

Business Insider’s Katie Notopoulos recently tried out Cringebot 3000<\/a>, an AI tool specifically designed to mimic the “thought leadership” tone that is ubiquitous on LinkedIn, and found that the AI-generated text was widely read on the platform compared to her typical posts.<\/p>\n
