{"id":151247,"date":"2026-08-25T23:06:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T23:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/151247\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T23:06:30","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T23:06:30","slug":"stanley-druckenmiller-admits-he-used-ai-to-write-wsj-op-ed-bashing-bessent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/151247\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanley Druckenmiller admits he used AI to write WSJ op-ed bashing Bessent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller admitted Tuesday that he used AI to pen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/opinion\/let-the-bond-market-speak-81529d74\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a scathing Wall Street Journal op-ed<\/a> bashing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent\u2019s debt buybacks.<\/p>\n<p>Druckenmiller \u2013 the founder of Duquesne Capital who has been described as a mentor to Bessent early in his hedge fund trading career \u2013 defended his undisclosed use of AI to write the piece, arguing that it was a no-brainer.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notus.org\/media\/stanley-druckenmillers-wsj-op-ed-bessent-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">digital news outlet NOTUS<\/a>, Druckenmiller said \u201cof course I used AI\u201d when writing the column, which generated online buzz about Bessent and Druckenmiller\u2019s relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller on Tuesday admitted that he used AI to pen a Wall Street Journal op-ed. Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a reason I moved from an English major to being an economics major,\u201d said<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/07\/business\/stan-druckenmiller-opposed-to-trump-tariffs-exceeding-10\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Druckenmiller, 73. <\/a>\u201cI\u2019m not embarrassed by it \u2026 I write everything using AI now for the same reason I use a calculator when I do math problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NOTUS claimed it used Pangram, an AI detection tool, to scan Druckenmiller\u2019s op-ed and found that it had been written using AI after several social media posts made similar allegations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Paul Gigot, the Journal\u2019s editorial page editor, defended Druckenmiller\u2019s use of the new technology, saying what matters is the integrity of the content.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI is a fact of modern life. People will use it to assist in their work and their writing, including with research, checking grammar, editing and more,\u201d Gigot told The Post in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question for us is whether what we publish from contributors reflects an author\u2019s original argument, and if the author has the standing and credibility to make it,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Stan Druckenmiller\u2019s case, we have had a relationship with him for many years, and nobody can doubt that his op-ed is his genuine opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul Gigot, editorial page editor at the Wall Street Journal, defended Druckenmiller\u2019s use of the new technology. Wall Street Journal<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s inquiry about whether it was aware that Druckenmiller had used AI to write the piece before it was published. <\/p>\n<p>On its website, the Journal says it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/news\/author\/wsj-artificialintelligencetools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">uses AI tools for several purposes<\/a>, including translation and research, and that \u201cWork that includes AI inputs is reviewed by a journalist before publishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Druckenmiller used the same argument as the broadsheet, shrugging off his use of AI since the argument made in the opinion piece was his own.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know why this is relevant,\u201d he said. \u201cMy name is on the piece. It\u2019s my message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Druckenmiller denied that \u201cthe whole thing\u201d was written with AI and said he rejected several of the bot\u2019s suggestions while working on the piece.<\/p>\n<p>In his op-ed, Druckenmiller tore into Bessent\u2019s plan to \u201cat least double\u201d government buybacks \u2013 potentially passing the $4 billion mark \u2013 in an effort to ease soaring Treasury yields and lower borrowing costs for consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent plans to \u201cat least double\u201d government buybacks. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>His article, titled \u201cLet the Bond Speak,\u201d argued the Treasury Department should \u201cdo the only thing that durably lowers long-term yields: address the primary deficit. Reform entitlements gradually and honestly, through means testing, indexing changes, eligibility adjustments phased in over decades \u2013 so that the burden is shared across generations instead of dumped on the youngest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As other news outlets noted, Druckenmiller\u2019s op-ed included some phrases that bore similarities to telltale signs of chatbot usage, such as sentences with the pattern, \u201cIt\u2019s not this, it\u2019s that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lines in the article included: \u201cThis wasn\u2019t liquidity management, it was price management;\u201d \u201cnot a malfunction but the machine doing its job;\u201d and \u201cThe bond market wasn\u2019t being a vigilante, as some would argue.
