MEMPHIS, Tenn. \u2014 SpaceX, the rocket company founded by Elon Musk, is scheduled to host a group of investors and analysts on Thursday at xAI\u2019s Macrohard data center in Memphis, Reuters is reporting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Macrohard facility and the Colossus II computer <\/a>are in the Whitehaven area of Memphis. xAI has three supercomputers and data center facilities in the Memphis area.<\/p>\n

What is \u2018Macrohard\u2019 and why does Elon Musk have it on this Memphis building? <\/a><\/p>\n

The Memphis visit follows another one Tuesday at the SpaceX headquarters in Texas, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n

SpaceX acquired xAI, Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence company, earlier this year.<\/p>\n

SpaceX has filed for an initial public offering that could make it the largest-ever stock market listing, valued at $1.75 trillion.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the event, Rebekah Gorbea and a group of other Memphians with Tennessee for All called on investors and analysts to reconsider.<\/p>\n

Thursday morning, at least one protester confronted xAI investors at a hotel in downtown Memphis, according to social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were here to tell the real story to investors, who have a chance to invest in this, that it\u2019s a red flag, it\u2019s a liability for many reasons,\u201d said Rebekah Gorbea, statewide coordinator with Tennessee for All.<\/p>\n

Adiditionally, those in support of the project have previously mentioned the economic benefits it will bring to communities; however, those who oppose xAI say they have yet to see it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere are the investments in our public schools? Where are the investments in our roads? Where are the investments in our people?\u201d Gorbea asked. \u201cWe\u2019re not seeing it, the billionaires certainly are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NAACP has filed a lawsuit against xAI, and several community groups have opposed the operation of multiple data centers in the Memphis area, citing pollution and health concerns centered on the facilities\u2019 use of gas turbines to generate backup power and the use of water from the aquifer.<\/p>\n
