If you are a parent<\/a> who is online, there is a 100% chance that you have come across AI and likely not even known it. It is just absolutely everywhere nowadays, whether we like it or not. Not only is artificial intelligence responsible for making those adorable animal videos that you immediately feel stupid for tearing up over, but it can also spew out a ton of misinformation and even scams<\/a>. One woman recently took to TikTok to let her followers know that there are too many people who are bad at spotting AI and she\u2019s here to help with a few great tips! <\/p>\n

A helpful crusader against AI took to her TikTok to let people know that they are falling for it way too easily. <\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a busy mom who only has extra five minutes to spare at the end of their day on their phone, allow us to take you through @theeglamnaija\u2019s video<\/a>, who goes by Nai Jelee, that she posted to help people better identify AI. <\/p>\n

The content creator with over a million followers on TikTok posts mostly beauty and glam videos, but being cautious and able to decipher what\u2019s real and what\u2019s made by AI seems to be an important topic to her. <\/p>\n

She starts out her video by stating, \u201cif you are someone who has not yet learned how to identify signs of AI, I need you to clock in right now.\u201d She points out that people are getting scammed every day on apps like TikTok due to AI taking over. You can immediately tell that she means business! <\/p>\n

She shared that she recently came across a video that had over a million views that looked suspicious to her. It appeared to be two black women selling cute leopard print handmade bags for between $60 and $100 and within seconds of going to their page, she discovered that none of it was real! <\/p>\n

One thing that was apparent to Nai Jelee when she was looking at this scam account on TikTok was that they used practically the exact same script for multiple videos. For example, this account had several videos that started by saying, \u201cPlease don\u2019t scroll y\u2019all, my sister just wants to show you the animal print handbag she handmade.\u201d Sure, she does. <\/p>\n

Nai Jelee points out that this exact phrase was used in several videos on the page and it was said in the exact same cadence. This works to show you that this is not a real person talking because people inherently add variety to their speech and the content that they post. <\/p>\n

Another thing you can always watch out for when trying to identify an actual person from someone made by AI is there will often be moments in a video where a person\u2019s nails or even their hands change shape or color. This is a huge red flag that there is not a real person behind the content! <\/p>\n

There are a few other signs to watch out for to ensure you don\u2019t fall for an AI scam. \"\"Devrimb\/iStock<\/p>\n

The TikTok user points out that AI is terrible at maintaining consistency, especially in the background, so always be mindful of things like floors, wall colors, and bedding changing throughout a video. It\u2019s also really bad at expressing human emotion. For example, she shares that the fake account trying to sell the handbags features multiple videos where the AI girl is crying and the emotion is just off.<\/p>\n

A few people in the TikTok comments give their helpful tips as well. One person commented, \u201cIt\u2019s the mouth movement for me.\u201d Okay, that\u2019s helpful to watch out for. Another person points out \u201cI feel like ai always looks a bit uncanny and cartoonish but you don\u2019t know why and you just can\u2019t put your finger on it.\u201d Something about the person\u2019s appearance will just look strange or off.<\/p>\n

What pisses Nai Jelee off the most though is that she warrants to guess that the person making these fake videos is not even a black person and they simply used a black individual\u2019s likeness for their scam. And they are \u201cbuilding a narrative around these bags of black entrepreneurship\u201d in order to target likely a black audience to scam. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s the thing about AI, though. It can go so deep and even though you may think that it\u2019s no big deal, it\u2019s changing the world we live in. It\u2019s so important to be mindful of what you\u2019re engaging with online and hopefully working to shut down the scams. <\/p>\n
