{"id":19211,"date":"2026-04-28T00:28:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T00:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/19211\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T00:28:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T00:28:16","slug":"ohio-universities-making-ai-part-of-the-curriculum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/19211\/","title":{"rendered":"Ohio universities making AI part of the curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DAYTON \u2014\u00a0Instead of banning artificial intelligence, colleges and universities are bringing AI straight into the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>One Ohio university is now making AI a part of its curriculum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What You Need To Know<\/p>\n<p>The University of Dayton is rolling out AI into its core curriculum classes regardless of major\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Educators said students won\u2019t just be letting AI do all the work but learning when and how to use it\u00a0<br \/>\n<br \/>The curriculum is not tied to any specific AI program or product according to educators<\/p>\n<p>Design engineering student Julian Pabon is used to solving complex problems by hand, but now he\u2019s getting help from AI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a professor did is developed a tool with the use of AI, where there\u2019s an app that you can now interact with, so I can say, hey, I want to change my turbulence intensity, or I need to change the length to be this amount,\u201d said Pabon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His class is just the start.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Dayton is rolling out AI across all core classes, no matter the major.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat this will do is enable our students to be adaptable\u2026we are preparing them to critically engage in a world that is changing in a way that makes them leaders,\u201d said University of Dayton Senior Assistant Provost for Undergraduate Curriculum Meghan Henning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Henning, a teacher turned undergraduate curriculum leader at UD, said this new curriculum isn\u2019t about simply letting AI do the work; it\u2019s about teaching students when and how to use it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not focused on a specific tool or product. We want our students to understand how these technologies work and the fundamentals of the way in which they can leverage them or when it\u2019s appropriate to not use them,\u201d said Henning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said as the technology evolves, so will the lessons.<\/p>\n<p>For students like Pabon, the goal is staying ahead of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re never going to progress unless you learn to think critically.
