In a recent statement on X, Musk made a bold prediction about the race toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tesla will be one of the companies to make AGI and probably the first to make it in humanoid\/atom-shaping form,&#8221; Musk claimed. This shift in rhetoric suggests that while xAI \u2014 Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence startup, which was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3560\/spacex-acquires-xai-building-data-centers-in-space\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acquired by SpaceX<\/a> \u2014 may focus on populating space with a massive network of over a million AI satellites, Tesla is where the &#8220;real-world&#8221; intelligence is being built.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tesla will be one of the companies to make AGI and probably the first to make it in humanoid\/atom-shaping form<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/2029123591871308272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 4, 2026<\/a> Tesla\u2019s AI Foundations: FSD and Custom Silicon<\/p>\n<p>Tesla has spent years building the infrastructure for AGI through its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) program. Unlike other AI companies that focus on large language models, Tesla\u2019s AI is designed to navigate and interact with the physical world. This requires massive amounts of video data and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3312\/from-gigafactory-to-terafab-teslas-audacious-plan-to-vertically-integrate-chips\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">specialized, highly scalable AI chips<\/a> that Tesla designs in-house.<\/p>\n<p>By teaching cars to &#8220;see&#8221; and make decisions in complex traffic, Tesla is essentially creating a digital brain that can understand the laws of physics. This &#8220;real-world AI&#8221; is the foundational block for AGI, as it moves beyond just processing text to actually shaping the world around it.<\/p>\n<p>The Rise of Optimus: From Factory to Home<\/p>\n<p>The most exciting application of this intelligence is Optimus, Tesla\u2019s humanoid robot. Tesla is moving incredibly fast here, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3550\/tesla-announces-the-discontinuation-of-the-model-s-and-model-x-video\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discontinuing the Model S and Model X<\/a> to clear space at its Fremont factory for Optimus Gen 3 production lines.<\/p>\n<p>The company has several massive milestones planned for the robot:<\/p>\n<p>Q1 2026: The official unveiling of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3281\/teslas-robotic-moonshot-optimus-gen-3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Optimus Gen 3 production-intent prototype<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mid 2026: Launch of low-volume production for internal use within Tesla factories.<\/p>\n<p>Late 2026: The start of high-volume production lines, with a long-term goal of hitting 1 million units annually.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Tesla hopes to hit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3314\/tesla-eyes-20k-price-target-for-optimus-extremely-fast-production-ramp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$20,000 price target<\/a> for the robot at scale, making it accessible for both industrial and domestic use. While Tesla plans to produce Optimus Gen 3 in Fremont, the even more advanced Gen 4 design is slated to be built at Gigafactory Texas.<\/p>\n<p>A Tesla-SpaceX Merger?<\/p>\n<p>With xAI now under the SpaceX umbrella to build data centers in space, and Tesla handling the AGI and robotics, some experts believe a merger between the two companies is becoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/2769\/will-tesla-and-xai-merge-elon-musks-biographer-thinks-its-likely\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">increasingly likely<\/a>. Combining SpaceX\u2019s orbital AI compute with Tesla\u2019s humanoid &#8220;atom-shaping&#8221; form would create a tech conglomerate unlike anything the world has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla is no longer just a car company; it\u2019s an AI and robotics powerhouse. According to a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/space\/overview-earth-station-licensing-and-license-contents\">recent application<\/a> filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the aerospace company is developing a next-generation gateway station designed to help deliver gigabit connectivity and fiber-like speeds to its satellite internet customers.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cFirst of Its Name\u201d Gateway<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed &#8220;First of Its Name&#8221; in the regulatory filing, this new ground-based gateway will be located directly at the Starlink manufacturing facility in Bastrop, Texas. While SpaceX already operates more than 100 gateway stations across the United States, this addition is a leap in technical capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, Starlink gateways have been designed to transmit data over the Ka and E bands. The new Bastrop facility will harness significantly more radio spectrum, utilizing a quad-band architecture that includes the Ka, V, E, and W bands. This expansion directly follows the FCC&#8217;s January approval of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notateslaapp.com\/news\/3687\/spacex-aims-for-150mbps-to-cell-phones-what-it-means-for-tesla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpaceX&#8217;s proposal to upgrade the Starlink network<\/a> with gigabit-class speeds.<\/p>\n<p>Upgraded Antenna Hardware<\/p>\n<p>To handle the increased data transmission rates, SpaceX is upgrading the physical hardware at the ground station. The new gateway will utilize 40 antennas for quad-band access. However, each antenna will feature a larger 1.99-meter parabolic dish, a noticeable upgrade from the 1.85-meter dishes used at the company&#8217;s existing gateway facilities.<\/p>\n<p>According to the FCC application, these larger dishes allow the gateway to connect to &#8220;as many independent NGSO [non-geostationary] satellites as possible at any given instant in time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-enlarge=\"true\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/spacex_gateway.jpg\" alt=\"A SpaceX Business\/Community Gateway\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1200 \/ 1200;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>By establishing more concurrent connections with orbiting satellites, SpaceX can vastly improve both data transmission rates and overall network reliability for consumers on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Paving the Way for Starlink V3<\/p>\n<p>This next-generation terrestrial gateway is a critical component of SpaceX&#8217;s long-term gigabit master plan. While the current hardware upgrades will improve the existing Gen1 and Gen2 systems, the ultimate goal is to support the massive data capacity of the upcoming V3 satellites.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk has previously noted that the mass deployment of these next-generation V3 satellites could begin as early as Q4 of 2026, heavily depending on the continued successful test flights of the Starship launch vehicle. Following a record-breaking start to the year, the plant is officially scaling up both its vehicle output and its local workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Record First Quarter Drives Expansion<\/p>\n<p>The catalyst for this new growth phase is a highly successful first quarter. According to Thierig&#8217;s post, the Giga Berlin team successfully built more than 61,000 Model Y vehicles during Q1 of 2026. This impressive figure marks a new production record for the facility, averaging out to nearly 4,700 vehicles per week.<\/p>\n<p>To build on this strong momentum and meet rebounding demand in the European market, Tesla has officially announced a 20 percent increase in Model Y production. This boost in production is slated to begin in July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Massive Hiring Spree and Permanent Roles<\/p>\n<p>Scaling physical production by 20 percent requires a substantial increase in human capital. <\/p>\n<p>Giga Berlin plans to bring on approximately 1,000 new employees, with the onboarding process beginning this May. This will give the new factory floor workers roughly two months to train and integrate before the production ramp in July.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, as a sign of stabilization and long-term commitment to its existing labor force, Tesla is officially converting 500 temporary employees into permanent, full-time staff members.
