The project is expected to be one of the largest foreign direct investments in India’s history.

Addressing the ceremony, Naidu urged Google and its partners, AdaniConneX and Airtel Nxtra, to complete the project in time for inauguration by September 2028, assuring full support from the state government. He described the initiative as a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s technological journey and recalled his earlier role in building Cyberabad into an IT hub.

“Google, which began as a search engine, is now transforming into a growth engine for India. While everyone typically searches on Google, in this instance, Google searched and chose Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Naidu said the state has the necessary infrastructure to support the project and promised to ensure water supply by bringing water from the Godavari River within 60 days. He added that the government would also use the facility to improve governance.

“In addition to the four secretaries at the CMO, a new AI assistant will now assist me personally in ensuring effective and good governance,” he said.

He said the project would generate large-scale employment opportunities and help drive economic growth in the region.

Vaishnaw said India is aiming to lead the next wave of technological development, noting that while the country had built strength in IT services, it had missed earlier opportunities in electronics manufacturing. He said that had begun to change over the past decade.

“In today’s world of geopolitical uncertainties, the world is looking for a trusted partner where IT rights will be protected, and security concerns will be met. This is possible only in India,” he said.

He also urged companies to expand server manufacturing in India to support growing data center demand and called for collaboration to improve energy and water efficiency. He noted that new subsea cables linked to the project would connect India to Australia, the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S.

Google Cloud and global infrastructure vice president Bikash Koley said the project represents the company’s largest commitment to India’s digital future.

“By establishing Visakhapatnam as an international sub-sea gateway, we will add vital diversity to the existing landings in Mumbai and Chennai, increasing the resilience of India’s digital backbone and improving economic security,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by several Union and state ministers, as well as industry leaders from Google, the Adani Group, and Bharti Enterprises.

Photo: x.com/ncbn

iNDICA NEWS BUREAU- The groundbreaking ceremony for a $15 billion Google-backed artificial intelligence data center project took place…

[9
9781,24,9779,9780,9772,4769,9784,9777,625,9783,140,132,1429,9787,9770,9776,9789,9785,9786,9788,9775,9773,9771,9782,9774,9778
post-20109","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-google","tag-abortion-rights","tag-ai","tag-bidenomics","tag-border-security","tag-california-indian-news","tag-department-of-government-efficiency","tag-dobbs-decision","tag-doge","tag-donald-trump","tag-election-integrity","tag-elon-musk","tag-google","tag-google-ai","tag-heritage-foundation","tag-indian-american-news","tag-indian-american-updates","tag-indian-origin","tag-lawfare","tag-project-2025","tag-ritu-jha","tag-south-asian-community-news","tag-south-asian-diaspora","tag-south-asian-news","tag-swing-states","tag-u-s-indian-news","tag-vivek-ramaswamy
["GET
