{"id":23789,"date":"2026-04-30T23:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T23:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/23789\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T23:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T23:58:09","slug":"spotify-cracks-down-on-ai-music-flood-with-green-badges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/23789\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotify cracks down on AI music flood with green badges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/projects\/2025\/spotify-wrapped-san-francisco\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Spotify<\/a> is introducing new <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2026-04-30\/verified-by-spotify-badge-artist-details\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">verification badges<\/a> on artist pages in an effort to help listeners distinguish human musicians from the growing wave of AI-generated music on streaming platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The new \u201cVerified by Spotify\u201d badge, marked with a light green checkmark, will appear on eligible artist profiles and next to artist names in search results over the coming weeks, Spotify announced Thursday, April 30.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company said the badge signals that an artist profile has been reviewed and meets its standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the AI era, it\u2019s more important than ever to be able to trust the authenticity of the music you listen to,\u201d Spotify said in a post on its website.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify, artists must show consistent listener activity over time, remain in good standing with Spotify\u2019s platform policies and demonstrate signs of a real artist presence, such as concert dates, merchandise or linked social media accounts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spotify said profiles that appear to primarily represent AI-generated music or AI personas will not be eligible at launch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListeners need to trust that the artists they\u2019re listening to are real artists building careers in music,\u201d Spotify\u2019s head of global artist partnerships, Ashley Graver, said in a video message\u00a0on Spotify News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXwweqRgW5z\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Instagram account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company said more than 99% of artists that listeners actively search for will be verified when the program begins, representing hundreds of thousands of musicians, most of them independent artists. Spotify said reviews will continue on an ongoing basis, and that the absence of a badge does not necessarily mean an artist will not receive one later.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as streaming services face mounting pressure over AI-generated music, impersonation and low-quality tracks designed for passive listening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the mysterious psychedelic rock act the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/entertainment\/article\/velvet-sundown-ai-band-spotify-500k-listeners-20400778.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Velvet Sundown<\/a> drew scrutiny after amassing more than 550,000 monthly Spotify listeners in less than a month despite having little verifiable online presence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AI artists have continued to gain traction. In November, the AI-created country act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/entertainment\/article\/ai-country-breaking-rust-21156784.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Breaking Rust<\/a> reached No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Country Digital Song Sales chart with \u201cWalk My Walk,\u201d even as questions remained about the people behind the project.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify is also adding a beta section to artist profiles that highlights details such as career milestones, release activity and touring history.
