According to <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-05-01\/nvidia-microsoft-aws-expanding-classified-military-ai-use\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Bloomberg;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bloomberg<\/a>, the three companies \u2014 alongside a forth, Reflection AI \u2014 have signed agreements granting the Pentagon use of their AI technologies &#8220;for lawful operational use&#8221; on classified military networks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;These agreements accelerate the transformation toward establishing the United States military as an AI-first fighting force,&#8221; the Pentagon said in a statement shared with Bloomberg. That essentially leaves Anthropic as the lone major US-based AI provider without a working agreement with the Pentagon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In February, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth threatened to label Anthropic a &#8220;supply chain risk&#8221; if it did not agree to withdraw safeguards preventing the company&#8217;s chatbot, Claude, from being used for mass surveillance against Americans or deployed in fully autonomous weapons. After Anthropic refused to bow to Hegseth&#8217;s demands, President Trump <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/ai\/trump-orders-federal-agencies-to-drop-anthropic-services-amid-pentagon-feud-222029306.html\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:ordered;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ordered<\/a> all federal agencies to stop using Claude and other Anthropic products within six months. If there&#8217;s some small comfort, however, it&#8217;s that it appears most people don&#8217;t approve of the deals AI companies are striking with the Pentagon.
