FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Much like the technology landscape, job hunting has evolved. With it, so has the way we make our first impressions.<\/p>\n
“Picture perfect” isn’t always what to strive for.<\/p>\n
“With the lens, it’s just texture quality,” says Photographer and videographer Christopher Brown. “Even with the cheapest camera, you cant compare to the flawless AI image that it produces for us.”<\/p>\n
Brown says his business started as a side hustle.<\/p>\n
What began as “iPhone-ography” blossomed into crafting visual legacies through splendid technique.<\/p>\n
“I say yes to all of it,” Brown said. “It was my first time doing a wedding, Quincea\u00f1era, stuff like that and it always worked out.<\/p>\n
Professional headshots are also his forte.<\/p>\n
“If you’re applying for a job or your profile is an AI photo on LinkedIn, you’re already creating this tension of lack of trust,” Brown said.<\/p>\n
AI software can aid photographers in photo touch-ups, but Christopher gave us a look at just how far it can go.<\/p>\n
“I can even make him smile,” he showed us.<\/p>\n
“If you work something that’s really creative, like advertising or graphic design, it’s okay to think outside the box because that’s more embraced” says Monster Career expert Vicki Salemi.<\/p>\n
But what does an AI-generated headshot tell a potential employer?<\/p>\n
“If I’m the recruiter, I’m looking at your headshot, number one, I may say, is this person really who they say they are,” Salemi said. “What else is not accurate on their application and their resume, as well as profile?”<\/p>\n
Salemi says there are ways to attain a headshot that conveys credibility and authenticity, even if you can’t afford a professional photographer or feel comfortable in front of the camera.<\/p>\n
“You want to, number one, make sure there’s good lighting,” she said. “You want to dress professionally. You don’t want to have a busy background or a busy outfit. You want to try to go for solid colors rather than patterns, and you can take a few different shots. You want to just look professional because you don’t have a second chance to make that first impression, and that includes your online profiles.”<\/p>\n
She went on to say think about the industry you’re pursuing and the brand you’re representing yourself to be.<\/p>\n
