{"id":27260,"date":"2026-05-04T23:32:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/27260\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T23:32:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:32:21","slug":"openai-sales-leader-leaves-for-role-at-thrive-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/27260\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI sales leader leaves for role at Thrive Capital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/05\/04\/elon-musks-odds-of-winning-lawsuit-against-openai-are-slim-kalshi-traders-say.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> sales leader James Dyett said on Monday that he&#8217;s leaving his role, the latest in a string of high-profile departures at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> company.<\/p>\n<p>Dyett joined OpenAI in 2023, right as the company underwent a period of explosive growth following the launch of its ChatGPT chatbot. His LinkedIn profile has his title as &#8220;Head of Sales,&#8221; but the company said he was a &#8220;senior sales leader.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>OpenAI is now valued at more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/03\/31\/openai-funding-round-ipo.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$850 billion<\/a> by private investors, and Dyett led its enterprise sales and its application programming interface (API) sales at different points during his tenure. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The timing feels right,&#8221; Dyett wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/dyett\/status\/2051394348370305066?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a post on X<\/a> on Monday. &#8220;I&#8217;m drawn back to the early stages of company building, and OpenAI is in a strong place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dyett&#8217;s departure comes after a number of executive leadership shakeups at OpenAI in recent months. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/03\/chasing-vibes-openai-ma-strategy-gets-more-confusing-with-tbpn-.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fidji Simo<\/a>,\u00a0OpenAI&#8217;s\u00a0product and business chief, announced last month that she would take\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/03\/openai-fidji-simo-medical-leave-executive-changes.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">medical leave<\/a>\u00a0because of a worsening\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2026\/03\/04\/ai-and-rare-disease-with-openai-ceo-of-applications-fidji-simo.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">neuroimmune condition<\/a>. Kate Rouch, OpenAI&#8217;s marketing chief, also decided to step down to focus on her cancer recovery, and Brad Lightcap, OpenAI&#8217;s operating chief, transitioned to a new role focused on &#8220;special projects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Weeks later, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/billpeeb\/status\/2045225014807670949?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bill Peebles<\/a>, who led OpenAI&#8217;s defunct short-form\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/03\/24\/openai-shutters-short-form-video-app-sora-as-company-reels-in-costs.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video app Sora<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kevinweil\/status\/2045230426210648348?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kevin Weil<\/a>, the vice president of OpenAI for Science, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/17\/openai-executives-leave.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced they had departed<\/a> from their respective roles. <\/p>\n<p>Dyett said he is moving to a new role at the venture capital firm Thrive Capital, where he will serve as an Operator in Residence.
