(WSMV) &#8211; With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2024\/03\/21\/governor-lee-signs-elvis-act-downtown-nashville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2024\/03\/21\/governor-lee-signs-elvis-act-downtown-nashville\/\">the ELVIS Act in 2024,<\/a> Tennessee became the first state to pass legislation preventing AI platforms from using an artist\u2019s voice or likeness to create content.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But passing the legislation is only half the battle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Monday, new tech company Monarrch unveiled a brand new technology they\u2019re working on to help enforce regulation around AI and likeness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLaws only work when they can be enforced,\u201d co-founder of Monarrch John Pisciotta told an audience of music executives, lawmakers and artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The product uses an artist\u2019s works to create a distinct digital profile of their voice and likeness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe use a whole heap of technology to go inside those piece of works, pull out feature extractions, and then match that and create a style fingerprint,\u201d said Monarrch co-founder and product lead Finbar O\u2019Hanlon. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/page\/our-apps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"WSMV\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WCZWEBRKNJC6BHZCWR4ZBCEHIA.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That \u2018style fingerprint\u2019 can then be used to prevent generative AI from using the artist\u2019s likeness in creating content, or allow them to set boundaries for when and how its used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It can also help artists get compensated for AI content generated using their likeness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAs an artist, you shouldn\u2019t have to choose between being exploited by AI or excluded from AI,\u201d O\u2019Hanlon said. \u201cTo me, that\u2019s a false choice. You should have the right to say yes. You should have the right to say no. You should have the right to set the conditions, to define context.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Monarrch unveiled the product at an event on Belmont University\u2019s campus alongside Senator Marsha Blackburn, who is working on several AI regulation bills at the federal level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The company says their product can lay the framework to be built on as more regulations are passed.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 WSMV.
