The agentic enterprise is here \u2014 but it may be too soon for companies trying to protect their data from rogue artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n
Boomi LP, which specializes in integration platform as a service, is positioned to address growing concerns around AI governance. The company\u2019s vision was the \u201cconnected enterprise,\u201d according to Steve Lucas<\/a>, chief executive officer at Boomi. That has evolved into the automated enterprise and now, the agentic enterprise<\/a>. The primary concern customers have is security.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we\u2019re focused on end to end is how do we create containers for all these different types of agentic or \u2026 even frontier models,\u201d Lucas said. \u201cThese open weight models, they\u2019re extraordinarily good, but we got to containerize them. You don\u2019t want to let an OpenClaw agent that can self-modify run loose in enterprise, not at least without a container and a kill switch.\u201d<\/p>\n Lucas spoke with John Furrier<\/a>, executive analyst at theCUBE Research, ahead of\u00a0Boomi World<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed the development of an agentic enterprise and how Boomi is helping its customers manage both cost and security. (* Disclosure below.)<\/p>\n Securing the agentic enterprise<\/p>\n The rise of OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent, and NemoClaw, Nvidia Corp.\u2019s version of OpenClaw, has many companies scrambling to develop a new AI strategy but the first step has to be deploying agents safely, according to Lucas.<\/p>\n OpenClaw has already opened the doors to software vulnerabilities across the enterprise world, leaving chief information and chief technology officers concerned.<\/p>\n \u201cThe execution risk is real,\u201d Lucas said. \u2018We have companies today that are using Boomi to just look after the agents that are entering their enterprise. They\u2019re finding DeepSeek agents popping up like popcorn. Somebody \u2026 buil[ds] a little agent leveraging DeepSeek on a laptop that\u2019s not inventoried \u2014 they\u2019ve just exposed their entire enterprise. The risk is real.\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, Boomi released Agentstudio<\/a>, a suite of agentic products including an Agent Control Tower<\/a> for monitoring and governing AI agents within one unified space. Any agentic strategy needs to have layered guardrails and containerized environments, especially in the early stages of AI deployment, Lucas explained.<\/p>\n \u201cThink about when a compliance call happens,\u201d he said. \u201cHow do you know what a black box agent is even doing inside of your organization? So, that control layer that we have, that thousands of our customers are using, that\u2019s what you need, but you\u2019ve got to put the policy in place today.\u201d<\/p>\n AI expenses spark concern<\/p>\n The other part of the agentic enterprise equation is managing costs. Companies are now finding out that they spent 10 times the usual amount on AI last year, according to Lucas. With AI infrastructure spending not slowing down any time soon<\/a>, companies are starting to feel nervous.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat people want is a way to embrace AI, but security paramount, management paramount and cost is paramount as well,\u201d Lucas said. \u201cThe vast majority of people that I talk to, it\u2019s as soon as you get through the security and how we\u2019re going to run it \u2026 it\u2019s cost, cost and more cost.\u201d<\/p>\n At the same time, enterprise companies\u2019 human employees are starting to wonder if there\u2019s still a place for them. AI operations is at the intersection between humans and agents, a new field that manages the ever-growing complexity of the agentic enterprise.<\/p>\n \u201cAIOps has to be a thing,\u201d Lucas said. \u201cThere\u2019s a million [AI] companies out there. The choices are near infinite. But the real question is, who is that person that\u2019s tasked with bringing it all together? And then, number two, how do you manage that so you get the most efficient output for your organization?
