SAN FRANCISCO, May 5 (Reuters) – Apple<\/a> on Tuesday settled for $250 million a shareholder lawsuit \u200cbrought after the company delayed artificial-intelligence<\/a> upgrades to \u200cits Siri voice assistant.<\/p>\n The lawsuit, filed by Peter Landsheft in U.S. \u200bfederal court in California in 2024, arose after the iPhone maker announced – and started running advertisements for – a bevy of AI upgrades at its annual software developer conference \u200cin 2024, saying \u2060they would become available with new iPhones that fall.<\/p>\n The iPhones launched without those features, which \u2060the plaintiffs claimed harmed shareholders. In 2025, Apple said that the AI overhaul of Siri would not come \u200buntil this \u200byear, and executives have \u200bnow confirmed that the \u200cnew Siri features will be unveiled at Apple’s annual developer conference next month.<\/p>\n Apple did not admit to any fault in the settlement, which still needs approval from a judge. In a statement, Apple said it released numerous \u200cother AI features since the \u200blaunch of what it calls \u200bApple Intelligence in 2024.<\/p>\n “Apple \u200bhas reached a settlement to resolve claims \u200crelated to the availability of \u200btwo additional \u200bfeatures.
