Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SAP said the acquisition is intended to address enterprise AI challenges caused by fragmented data, proprietary formats, and disconnected systems. According to the company, Dremio’s platform helps eliminate data fragmentation and integration friction while complementing SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP HANA Cloud offerings through seamless integration across SAP and non-SAP data environments.

Following the acquisition, SAP Business Data Cloud is expected to become an Apache Iceberg-native enterprise lakehouse platform that unifies SAP and non-SAP data to support agentic AI workloads at enterprise scale. SAP noted that Apache Iceberg support will allow organizations to manage data without requiring format conversions or data movement while enabling federated analytical access across enterprise data sources.

SAP also said Dremio’s serverless and elastic architecture will improve the economics of enterprise analytics by automatically scaling infrastructure based on workload demand. In addition, SAP plans to deliver a universal open catalog built on Apache Polaris and the Apache Iceberg REST Catalog API to serve as both the discovery and semantic layer of SAP Business Data Cloud.

Dremio has contributed to open-source projects including Apache Iceberg, Apache Polaris, and Apache Arrow, and SAP said it plans to continue investing in those technologies. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Dremio describes itself as an “Agentic Lakehouse” platform that enables AI agents and knowledge workers to access enterprise data through large language models and other tools while providing federated queries and AI semantic layers for business context.

KEY QUOTE:

“Enterprise AI doesn’t stall because the models aren’t good enough; it stalls because the data isn’t ready for AI agents. Dremio eliminates that bottleneck. Combined with SAP Business Data Cloud, we can now take customers from raw, fragmented data to governed, AI-ready intelligence on a single open platform.”

Philipp Herzig, CTO, SAP SE

SAP announced it has agreed to acquire Dremio, an open high-performance data lakehouse platform designed to accelerate agentic…

[6
179,7493,17863,4563
0":"post-29931","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-agentic-ai","8":"tag-agentic-ai","9":"tag-agentic-artificial-intelligence","10":"tag-dremio","11":"tag-sap
["GET
