(Atlanta News First) \u2014 An Atlanta and Silicon Valley-based company is trying to drive down construction costs using artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201c100% of the time, at any given moment, [construction] is behind,\u201d said KP Reddy, a 30-year civil engineer and CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zero-rfi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.zero-rfi.com\/\">Zero RFI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Reddy knows construction is an inexact science. He also knows that modern technology makes things harder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hundreds of people, dozens of businesses, thousands of emails, and timelines are all interdependent in construction projects. It makes it easy for things to get complicated and projects to fall behind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt rains, you have a supply chain issue, you can\u2019t get a piece of material, and you have to change the game,\u201d Reddy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Zero RFI bills itself as construction\u2019s \u201cassistant program manager\u201d as actual managers retire faster than they, or their experience, can be replaced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWith a new grad, it takes them 20-30 years to know what they\u2019re doing,\u201d Reddy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But with an AI manager, new workers don\u2019t have to be experts on Day 1 to read and understand the drawings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOur North Star is we can reduce timelines by 30% and budget by 30%,\u201d Reddy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That\u2019s a big deal in an industry that hasn\u2019t seen a long-term decline in material costs as tech has advanced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Reddy believes AI efficiencies could trickle down to cost reductions for housing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThat supply chain, and that capacity, all of a sudden housing costs come down, so things become really affordable,\u201d Reddy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It makes sense in theory, but it still needs to be proven. Like AI itself, there\u2019s a lot of promise, but also worries about whether it will actually work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Reddy is confident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis has been my life\u2019s work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One thing he knows for sure is the industry can\u2019t keep operating so expensively and inefficiently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHumans adapt,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re pretty smart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WANF.
