CNBC earlier<a data-ylk=\"slk:reported the financing round;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/01\/21\/openevidence-chatgpt-for-doctors-doubles-valuation-to-12-billion.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> reported the financing round<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>OpenEvidence kicked off its fundraising in February with $75 million from Sequoia at a $1 billion valuation. Just a few months later in October, the company\u2019s valuation jumped to $6 billion.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_ny_post_us_news_articles_123\/262e129183eb3250092a54c8217e81b5.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>OpenEvidence founder Daniel Nadler is a billionaire poet and techie. Sequoia Capital\/YoutTube<\/p>\n<p>The company has raised $700 million in less than a year from Google Ventures, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, David Sacks\u2019 Craft Ventures and Mayo Clinic, according to the press release.<\/p>\n<p>It was founded in 2022 by Daniel Nadler \u2013 a billionaire poet who sold his first company, Kensho Technologies, to Standard &amp; Poor\u2019s for $700 million in 2018 \u2013 and Zachary Ziegler, previously a PhD student at Harvard studying AI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you only squint from a distance, OpenEvidence is \u2018ChatGPT\u2019 for doctors. If you look closely, it\u2019s a very different organism,\u201d Nadler told The Post in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s built from the ground up specifically for doctors. It\u2019s free for doctors, but it\u2019s a pro tool,\u201d Nadler said. \u201cIt\u2019s trained on specialized medical content, such as the\u00a0New England Journal of Medicine\u00a0(through strategic partnerships).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 40% of physicians already use the tool, Nadler claimed, and there is much more opportunity for growth in the health care sector \u2013 which accounts for nearly 20% of US gross domestic product with $5 trillion in yearly spending.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth care is the largest segment of the real economy,\u201d Nadler told CNBC. \u201cPeople realize there could be a lot of winners in the space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Industry giants like OpenAI and Anthropic have already launched HIPAA-compliant versions of their chatbots, known as ChatGPT Health and Claude Healthcare.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_ny_post_us_news_articles_123\/9fc61b501e63fed2d097ba8bf0f731e7.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>More than 50% of physicians already use OpenEvidence, Nadler claimed. Emily Norris\/peopleimages.com \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>Nadler said OpenEvidence\u2019s vast troves of quality health data put it a step ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve already gathered hundreds of millions of real-world clinical consultations from verified physicians \u2013 that feedback loop is incredibly hard to replicate,\u201d he told CNBC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if someone copied the playbook today, they\u2019d still be far behind because it\u2019s not just the partnerships, it\u2019s the real-world usage data.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nadler said his company is focused on building relationships with physicians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost health care in America isn\u2019t happening at billion-dollar hospitals in New York or San Francisco,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s happening in small practices that don\u2019t have IT departments or budgets for expensive software.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OpenEvidence relies on advertising for revenue \u2013 putting it ahead of the curve compared to rivals like OpenAI, which last week <a data-ylk=\"slk:announced it would start testing ads on ChatGPT;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/news\/openai-test-ads-chatgpt-startup-194209921.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced it would start testing ads on ChatGPT<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nadler said the company raked in more than $100 million in annualized revenue last year, mostly from organic growth.
