The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/cincinnati-bengals\/327\" data-autotag=\"6d3e484d-5133-4c06-a871-967f8646390b\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bengals<\/a>\u2019 hopes of actually landing him hinge on nine other teams not weighing the positional importance all that highly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even AI is on board with the idea. At USA Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/2026\/04\/10\/nfl-mock-draft-2026-meta-ai-picks\/89524758007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacob Camenker<\/a> asked Meta AI to predict the first round and Downs went to the Bengals:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Bengals signed Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger in free agency. Will that preclude them from selecting a safety with the 10th overall pick? Meta doesn&#8217;t think so, as it believes Downs&#8217; &#8220;instincts and range&#8221; will make him an attractive option for Cincinnati at this juncture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is zero chance the signings of Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger take Downs off the board for the Bengals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cook is a starter, while Dugger will see snaps. But the verdict is still out on Jordan Battle. More important than anything, Downs projects as a guy who can play in the slot.
