In a post on X, CEO Sam Altman described Daybreak as “our effort to accelerate cyber defense and continuously secure software.”

OpenAI said Daybreak is aimed at enterprise security teams, developers, researchers and government-linked cybersecurity operations as AI becomes increasingly capable of analyzing codebases, identifying vulnerabilities and assisting with defensive cyber operations. The company said the platform is designed to help defenders “reason across codebases,” uncover subtle software weaknesses and move more quickly from vulnerability discovery to remediation.

The launch also intensifies the growing competition between major AI developers in cybersecurity following the rollout of Anthropic’s Claude Mythos security initiative and Project Glasswing program. Several reports described Daybreak as OpenAI’s answer to Anthropic’s recent cyber-focused AI push, though OpenAI said its approach combines multiple models and external security partnerships rather than relying on a single dedicated system.

OpenAI said Daybreak will initially work with industry and government partners as it prepares to deploy increasingly “cyber-capable” AI models in coming weeks. The company added that while AI can significantly improve defensive cybersecurity operations, the same capabilities could potentially be misused, requiring safeguards, monitoring and controlled deployment

                Section: Standard
Word Count: 314
Copyright Holder: CUToday.info
Copyright Year: 2026
Is Based On:
URL: https://www.cutoday.info/Fresh-Today/OpenAI-Counters-Anthropic-s-Mythos-Platform-With-New-Daybreak-Defense-Program

SAN FRANCISCO—OpenAI has launched a new cybersecurity initiative called Daybreak, saying the program is designed to help cyberdefense…

[8
53,6769,6771,6772,5329,6770
0":"post-36101","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-anthropic","8":"tag-anthropic","9":"tag-cms","10":"tag-content-management","11":"tag-development-framework","12":"tag-e-commerce","13":"tag-publish
["GET
