Altman, Brockman, and Musk were all part of the initial founding team at OpenAI, with Musk investing up to $38 million in the ChatGPT-maker\u2019s early days. But the relationship between Musk and other OpenAI founders eventually soured, and Musk stepped away from the company, later going on to found his own direct competitor, xAI. In recent years, Musk and Altman have traded barbs and made a slew of allegations against each other, driven largely by Musk\u2019s handful of legal actions against OpenAI, many of which have since been dropped or dismissed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Musk v. Altman trial has already drawn testimony from prominent AI industry leaders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/923684\/musk-brockman-altman-openai-trial\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">including Brockman<\/a>; Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/925665\/musk-altman-trial-shivon-zilis-testimony\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">former OpenAI board member<\/a> (and mother of Musk\u2019s children) Shivon Zilis; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/926383\/mira-murati-sam-altman-musk-trial-ouster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">former OpenAI CTO<\/a> (and, briefly, CEO) Mira Murati, who is now founder of her own AI startup, Thinking Machines Lab.
