For almost twenty years, searching for information has meant the same thing: open Google, type a question, click three terrible websites, ignore two ads pretending not to be ads, and somehow end up reading a Reddit thread from 2017.<\/p>\n
I never questioned that process because it was just how the internet worked.<\/p>\n
Then I spent 30 days replacing Google with AI.<\/p>\n
No traditional search engine. No scrolling through pages of links. If I needed information, recommendations, help, or answers, I asked AI first.<\/p>\n
I expected it to feel futuristic.<\/p>\n
Instead, it mostly felt\u2026 weirdly natural.<\/p>\n
The first thing I noticed was how conversational everything became. Instead of carefully typing keywords like some kind of search-engine archaeologist, I could ask normal human questions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s the best beginner camera if I travel a lot?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy do I feel exhausted after productive days?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCan you summarize this article without making it sound like a robot wrote it?\u201d<\/p>\n
The answers came back instantly, organized, and without forcing me to open twelve tabs just to piece together basic information.<\/p>\n
That alone changed how I used the internet.<\/p>\n
Normally, searching online feels like work. AI made it feel more like talking to an extremely fast assistant who never got tired of my questions.<\/p>\n
And honestly, I got lazy very quickly.<\/p>\n
By the second week, I stopped Googling almost entirely. AI helped me brainstorm article ideas, plan workouts, explain confusing tech problems, recommend movies, organize my schedule, and even rewrite awkward emails I didn\u2019t want to send.<\/p>\n
It became less of a tool and more of a layer sitting on top of my daily life.<\/p>\n
But the experiment also exposed some problems I didn\u2019t expect.<\/p>\n
AI sounds confident even when it\u2019s wrong.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s dangerous.<\/p>\n
At one point, I asked for recommendations about a product I wanted to buy. The answer sounded detailed and convincing \u2014 except one of the products didn\u2019t actually exist.<\/p>\n
Another time, AI confidently explained a \u201cfact\u201d that turned out to be completely inaccurate after I double-checked it later.<\/p>\n
Google may be messy, but at least it forces you to compare sources. AI removes friction so effectively that it can trick you into trusting answers too quickly.<\/p>\n
That was probably the biggest lesson from the entire experiment: convenience changes your behavior.<\/p>\n
And once you get used to instant summarized answers, traditional search engines start feeling painfully slow.<\/p>\n
Going back to Google after a few weeks felt strange. Suddenly I was drowning in SEO-heavy blog posts, cookie popups, autoplay videos, sponsored results, and websites that somehow took twelve paragraphs to answer one simple question.<\/p>\n
AI spoiled me.<\/p>\n
But there were still situations where traditional search worked better.<\/p>\n
Breaking news, live updates, maps, shopping comparisons, and anything requiring real-time accuracy still felt more reliable through Google. AI was excellent for simplifying information, but not always perfect for verifying it.<\/p>\n
By the end of the 30 days, I realized I wasn\u2019t actually replacing Google completely.<\/p>\n
I was replacing the way I search.<\/p>\n
Instead of hunting for information manually, I now use AI as the first layer. It helps me narrow down what I\u2019m looking for before I dive deeper into real sources.<\/p>\n
And surprisingly, that made the internet feel less exhausting.<\/p>\n
For years, online searching has become cluttered with ads, optimized content farms, and endless noise competing for attention. AI cut through a lot of that instantly.<\/p>\n
Of course, it\u2019s not perfect. Sometimes it gets things wrong. Sometimes it sounds smarter than it actually is. And sometimes it confidently explains things that make absolutely no sense at all.<\/p>\n
But after 30 days, I can honestly say this:<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t think I can go back to searching the internet the old way full-time.<\/p>\n
Not because AI is replacing human thinking.<\/p>\n
