Seth Rogen<\/a> told Brut<\/a> at the Cannes<\/a> Film Festival that if you use AI to write your stories or scripts, then you \u201cshouldn\u2019t be a writer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t understand what it\u2019s supposed to do,\u201d Rogen said when asked about AI in filmmaking. \u201cEvery time I see a video on Instagram that\u2019s like, \u2018Hollywood is cooked,\u2019 what follows is the most stupid dog shit I\u2019ve ever seen in my life. And if your instinct is to use AI and not go through that process. You shouldn\u2019t be a writer. Because you\u2019re not writing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cGo do something else. And if you don\u2019t want to go through the process, you shouldn\u2019t be a writer. The idea of a tool that makes me write less is not appealing to me, because I like writing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogen is at Cannes to promote his new animated film \u201cTangles,\u201d which follows a young woman as she grapples with her mother\u2019s Alzheimer\u2019s diagnosis. When the interviewer commented that she was happy there was no AI used in the film, Rogen said, \u201cNot at all. It\u2019s hand-drawn animation. Every frame has a human touch to it, which is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

When discussing \u201cTangles\u201d with Variety<\/a>, producer Miller Rogen, who is Seth Rogen\u2019s wife, said she felt an immediate connection to the main character, an illustrator named Sarah, because her mom also suffered from Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were so many similarities between my family and Sarah\u2019s family,\u201d Miller Rogen said. \u201cOur moms were both teachers who were diagnosed in their early 50s. I related to the denial, fear and sense of aloneness that can come with a dementia diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n
