{"id":4402,"date":"2026-04-13T19:36:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T19:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/4402\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T19:36:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T19:36:08","slug":"man-accused-in-molotov-cocktail-attack-of-openai-ceos-home-opposed-ai-court-documents-say-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/4402\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Accused in Molotov Cocktail Attack of OpenAI CEO&#8217;s Home Opposed AI, Court Documents Say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPRING, Texas (AP) \u2014 The man accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/chatgpt-sam-altman-fire-arrest-4bfb4c4dd408b938d442334de4aa2dd9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">throwing a Molotov cocktail<\/a> at OpenAI founder Sam Altman\u2019s home in San Francisco was opposed to artificial intelligence and had list of other AI tech executives, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities allege Daniel Moreno-Gama threw the incendiary device about 4 a.m. Friday, setting an exterior gate at Altman\u2019s home alight before fleeing on foot, police said. Less than an hour later, Moreno-Gama allegedly went to OpenAI\u2019s headquarters and reportedly threatened to burn down the building.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday morning, FBI agents went to Moreno-Gama\u2019s home in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston, where they spent several hours before leaving. He has been charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and damage and destruction of property by means of explosives. <\/p>\n<p>When Moreno-Gama was arrested Friday, officials found a document on him in which he wrote that \u201cidentified views opposed to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the executives of various AI companies,\u201d court documents say.<\/p>\n<p>In the document, Moreno-Gama allegedly \u201cdiscussed the purported risk AI poses to humanity,\u201d according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Hours after the attack on his house, Altman posted a photo of his husband and their toddler in a blog post addressing the threats against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNormally we try to be pretty private, but in this case I am sharing a photo in the hopes that it might dissuade the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think about me,\u201d Altman wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He added that \u201cfear and anxiety about AI is justified\u201d but it was important to \u201cde-escalate the rhetoric and tactics and try to have fewer explosions in fewer homes, figuratively and literally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ap.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>.
