The Preferred Sources feature<\/a> that lets Google Search users pick up the news publishers they want to appear more often in the search engine\u2019s Top Stories is now available in AI Mode and AI Overviews<\/a>. Google Search users just need to add their favourite sources in Search personalization settings to see more of their favourite websites across Google\u2019s AI-powered search experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like in Top Stories, your Preferred Sources will be clearly labeled to stand out,\u201d Google said today. \u201cWe\u2019ve found that people are twice as likely to click through to a Preferred Source, and people have already selected more than 345,000 unique sources.\u201d<\/p>\n

Google said that \u201cany website that publishes fresh content is eligible\u201d to be picked up as a preferred source in Google Search, AI Mode, and AI Overviews. Preferred Sources recently became available in all languages, and you\u2019re welcome to add thurrott.com<\/a> to your list of preferred sources by going to this settings page<\/a> \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Moreover, Google\u2019s AI responses may now show a short paragraph followed by a carousel with preferred sources to help users dive deeper into a specific topic. \u201cFor some searches where you might be looking for insights from others, you\u2019ll soon see a similar carousel with helpful perspectives from online discussions, forums, and social media,\u201d Google added.<\/p>\n

Lastly, Google is also introducing a new \u201chighly cited\u201d label on its traditional search results page to highlight articles that many other publications have cited.
