The deal is expected to close in the second quarter, pending shareholder approval, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>Allbirds said it intends to rebrand as \u201cNewBird AI\u201d as part of the transition.<\/p>\n<p>Allbirds said it plans to use the new funding to acquire high-performance graphics processing units, or GPUs \u2014 the specialized chips used to train and run AI systems \u2014 and lease that computing power to customers.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement marks a striking turn for a company once synonymous with Silicon Valley\u2019s work uniform.
