A Labour MP is suing\u00a0Elon Musk<\/a>\u2019s AI <\/a>company over fake images of her <\/a>\u2019wearing a bikini\u2019.<\/p>\n Jess Asato\u00a0filed a claim yesterday, alleging that Grok<\/a> also generated a video of her \u2018being chloroformed and prepared for sexual assault\u2019.<\/p>\n The MP for Lowestoft\u00a0claims the images were some of the at least 1.8million sexualised images of women created by Grok earlier this year.<\/p>\n Asato said: \u2018Me going public is so that we can invite people who may have been victims of AI photo manipulation on Grok to come forward and to seek legal help\u2026 to give people a sort of sense that they\u2019re not alone when this happens.\u2019<\/p>\n She added: \u2018Nobody would be able to walk up to me in the street and strip me and put me in a bikini, and I don\u2019t see why anybody should be able to do that to me online, because the feeling, while it is not quite the same, is very similar.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n Women told Metro <\/a>in late December how Grok created explicit images of them without their consent.<\/p>\n \t\t In response to simple user prompts on X<\/a>, the chatbot created photos of real people in revealing clothing and in sexually provocative situations.<\/p>\n More images flooded X for weeks, most publicly viewable on the Grok X account\u2019s media tab.<\/p>\n Asato says she was targeted in January after speaking up on X and in the House of Commons<\/a> about the issue.<\/p>\n \u2018Sexualising someone\u2019s image without consent is digital sexual abuse and needs to stop,\u2019 she posted on social media<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n Since I posted last I\u2019ve had my image manipulated to portray me publicly in a bikini.<\/p>\n Where have I consented to this? The issue of consent is missing from this debate.<\/p>\n Sexualising someone\u2019s image without consent is digital sexual abuse and needs to stop.<\/p>\n \u2014 Jess Asato MP (@Jess4Lowestoft) January 11, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n The Centre for Countering Digital Hate estimated <\/a>that 65%, or just over three million, contained sexualised imagery of men, women or children.<\/p>\n Musk insisted at the time that he was \u2018not aware of any naked underage images\u2019.<\/p>\n Regulators launched investigations<\/a> into xAI, the tech start-up behind Grok, while some countries banned the app<\/a>, which the UK considered<\/a>. <\/p>\n xAI bosses initially responded by limiting Grok\u2019s image-generation to subscribers, who could pay a premium for the feature. <\/p>\n But it later blocked <\/a>the bot from generating sexualised and naked images of real people in mid-January.<\/p>\n It has since become illegal to create or request a non-consensual AI-generated image of an adult in the UK.<\/p>\n Metro has seen several examples of users asking the bot to place people into a bikini over the last week. It does not generate the image, but responds to the user in a post as if it had. <\/p>\n \u2018No one should be subjected to abuse like this\u2019<\/p>\n Asato, who is pursuing damages, compared the saga to how a faulty car would be recalled by the manufacturer. <\/p>\n \u2018It matters that the car was produced with the fault in the first place, and that\u2019s the problem with Grok, that it was created without the safeguards and without the guardrails to prevent this from happening in the first place,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n Her claim was brought under the Data Protection Act 2018 and for tortious misuse of private information.<\/p>\n \t\t Asato\u2019s solicitor, Ravi Naik of law firm AWO, told Metro that the law must \u2018remedy\u2019 the trouble that AI technology can pose to people.<\/p>\n \u2018No one should be subjected to abuse like this, and no one should have to instruct a lawyer to get images like these taken down,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n \u2018This content existed because of design choices made by engineers at xAI.
