(WLUC) &#8211; Michigan business leaders are trying to encourage workers to keep pace with AI. A new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/leo\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/leo\/Documents\/LEO-Initiatives\/AI-and-the-workforce\/Phase-2-Slides.pdf?rev=d4ba5bccd8e848999749997983dc5547&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/leo\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/leo\/Documents\/LEO-Initiatives\/AI-and-the-workforce\/Phase-2-Slides.pdf?rev=d4ba5bccd8e848999749997983dc5547&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\">report<\/a> from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity shows an increase in demand for AI skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The report also shows AI job demand is growing in nearly every region and industry. The AI job demand in the Lansing and Detroit areas outpaced the national percentage, which is 120 percent. Lansing saw an increase in AI demand of 138 percent, while Detroit saw a 162 percent increase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The MI LEO Director, Susan Corbin, says most jobs won\u2019t be replaced by AI, but they could be enhanced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe want to make sure our workers will be prepared. I think our understanding now is that most jobs will evolve, they\u2019ll not disappear, but they will evolve, and AI can help enhance our capacity for the work that we do,\u201d Corbin said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Corbin says they\u2019ve created a state-wide plan to help bring the workforce up to speed with the latest AI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe have created and launched an \u2018AI in the Workforce\u2019 plan, and we are working with all of our local Michigan Works! agencies across the state right now to expand training programs for people who are job seekers or people who want to enhance their job skills,\u201d Corbin said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Corbin says the technology is essentially already here, and both workers and business owners should prepare for sudden changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhat we\u2019re trying to focus on is looking at and understanding data trends in Michigan so that we can help prepare workers and employers and our community for the rapid changes that we might see and the opportunities that AI is going to bring,\u201d Corbin said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The new data also shows that Michigan\u2019s advanced manufacturing, construction, energy and mobility industries are seeking AI-related talent at rates higher than the national average.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The video above will feature the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uppermichiganssource.com\/livestream\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.uppermichiganssource.com\/livestream\/\" target=\"_blank\">TV6 livestream<\/a> until staff can clip the corresponding story, if available, from broadcasts or other TV6 content.
