{"id":7528,"date":"2026-04-19T01:08:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T01:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/7528\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T01:08:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T01:08:30","slug":"ai-is-not-eating-up-chinas-software-market-but-turbocharging-it-hsbc-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/7528\/","title":{"rendered":"AI is not eating up China\u2019s software market but turbocharging it: HSBC analyst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China\u2019s artificial intelligence model companies are unlikely to \u201ceat up\u201d the domestic software market because they lack the deep industry know-how and experience to meet enterprise needs, according to an HSBC analyst.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Unlike the US, China\u2019s less developed software-as-a-service (SaaS) market stands to gain even as AI models continue to improve, with the most likely outcome being a collaborative approach where model companies and legacy software firms serve enterprises in tandem, said Yiran Liu, head of A-share IT software research at HSBC Qianhai Securities.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The analysis comes as continued AI progress sparked a \u201cSaaSpocalypse\u201d earlier this year in the financial markets, as investors turned away from traditional SaaS giants amid fears that new agentic AI products such as Anthropic\u2019s Claude Cowork and OpenAI\u2019s Codex would eliminate the need for traditional software firms.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Notable US software giants including Salesforce and Adobe are both down around 30 per cent this year. The slump has extended to China, with the Hang Seng China A Software &amp; Services Index down 19 per cent from a high in mid-January.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">However, there was a gulf between investor sentiment and what was happening on the ground in China, said Liu, who is based in Beijing.
