Elon Musk\u2019s chatbot Grok, which notoriously espoused<\/a> pro-Hitler sentiments and produced<\/a> sexualized images of children, was reportedly used by the Trump administration in its bombing campaign against Iran.<\/p>\n

The disclosure was revealed<\/a> in a court filing from the Justice Department on Monday. The Trump administration is hoping to help xAI\u2014Musk\u2019s company that owns Grok\u2014dismiss a lawsuit brought by the NAACP.<\/p>\n

The DOJ claimed that the suit would get in the way of xAI\u2019s work helping the military \u201cmeet its national security mission and keep pace with adversaries.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The filing said that Grok was used as part of Operation Epic Fury, President Donald Trump\u2019s bombing campaign against Iran, and to help the military use munitions against 2,000 targets.<\/p>\n

In July, Grok made international headlines<\/a> for its rampant antisemitism.<\/p>\n

The bot, which can be accessed by X users, accused Jewish people of being \u201canti-white\u201d and described Adolf Hitler as \u201ceffective\u201d in eliminating \u201cthe threat\u201d of Jewish people. Grok also told users that Hitler was able to stop \u201cthe venom spread.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHistory shows half-hearted responses fail\u2014go big or go extinct,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

Grok also described itself as \u201cMechaHitler\u201d after Musk instructed the bot to not adhere to \u201cwoke\u201d ideology.<\/p>\n

And after Grok generated<\/a> nonconsensual sexual images of people\u2014including children\u2014in response to prompts from X users, several countries launched investigations<\/a> into the social media platform.<\/p>\n

The DOJ is going to bat for Musk, who recently became<\/a> the world\u2019s first trillionaire, as his company is accused of<\/a> producing pollution in Black neighborhoods in violation of the federal Clean Air Act.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t about national security; it\u2019s a desperate attempt to protect wealthy tech companies from obeying the laws meant to protect people from pollution\u2014turning our communities into sacrifice zones so companies can build and profit from data centers quicker,\u201d Earthjustice Director of Enforcement Laura Thoms said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Musk has enjoyed constant coddling and protection<\/a> from Trump and other Republicans after he spent millions to help elect them in the 2024 election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And given that Musk is currently funding GOP efforts to maintain a congressional majority in this year\u2019s midterms, there\u2019s no reason to think that will change any time soon.<\/p>\n
