{"id":77302,"date":"2026-06-17T18:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T18:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/77302\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T18:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T18:35:07","slug":"kessel-run-goes-hands-on-with-ai-to-speed-software-delivery-wright-patterson-afb-article-display","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/77302\/","title":{"rendered":"Kessel Run goes hands on with AI to speed software delivery > Wright-Patterson AFB > Article Display"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n            &#13;<br \/>\n            LINCOLN, Mass. &#8212; \u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{0ff500d7-b2e4-4a2f-89ee-d1eed152273c}{35}\" paraid=\"490607761\">In\u00a0line with the Department of the Air Force\u2019s\u00a0comprehensive strategy\u00a0to operationalize\u00a0artificial\u00a0intelligence\u00a0and\u00a0maintain\u00a0decisive competitive advantage,\u00a0Kessel Run\u00a0leadership\u00a0recently\u00a0took steps to enhance\u00a0their\u00a0organization\u2019s\u00a0overall knowledge\u00a0base.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\nRoughly 30\u00a0Kessel Runners\u00a0immersed themselves in\u00a0hands-on training during a\u00a0two-day course\u00a0meant to teach them the intricacies of AI, June\u00a03-4.\u00a0Airmen\u00a0and government civilians in leadership and functional positions\u00a0trained to\u00a0build software applications\u00a0capable of\u00a0solving\u00a0real-world problems.\u00a0The training focused on developing their understanding of how to use AI\u00a0to\u00a0develop applications from\u00a0scratch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are tools that we can use to actually make our own lives easier,\u201d\u00a0said Lt. Col. Camdon Cady, Kessel Run Operations Command and Control materiel lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The training\u00a0aligns with the\u00a0Department of the Air Force AI Hiring and Talent Development Plan, which was recently\u00a0issued by the department&#8217;s Chief Data and AI Office. The plan\u00a0details a multi-faceted approach to building a skilled workforce capable of harnessing AI for military superiority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2027 is not getting any further away,\u201d Cady said.\u00a0\u201cWe need to be able to be efficient and get things done\u00a0with AI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the training, participants\u00a0broke\u00a0into teams based on experience levels. The course\u00a0enabled individuals with little to no\u00a0previous\u00a0experience in using AI tools, to be able to streamline tasks and deploy fully developed applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going from a user story,\u00a0to prototyping an application\u00a0in two days,\u201d Cady said. \u201cWe&#8217;re going to\u00a0go\u00a0all the way through\u00a0the process of\u00a0working as a team, to build that application in a common environment, and then actually deploy it live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\nThe training\u00a0taught\u00a0its participants how to\u00a0compress development timelines, which\u00a0historically took months,\u00a0into just a few days. The course provided the infrastructure,\u00a0environment, and in-room coaching needed for teams to work collaboratively without worrying about backend\u00a0logistics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we&#8217;re doing in two days\u00a0is\u00a0developing an app that probably would have taken us four to six months to build,\u00a0two to three years ago,\u201d\u00a0said Jeff Rodanski,\u00a0the\u00a0design practice lead and\u00a0instructor for the course.\u00a0\u201cThe pivot is now you can have one person play all those roles because of the power of AI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By understanding AI capabilities, Air Force leadership can better communicate with\u00a0industry vendors\u00a0on realistic timelines\u00a0and understand the nuances of modern software development. This also enables the\u00a0acquisition workforce\u00a0to be\u00a0better equipped to evaluate the timelines proposed by\u00a0industry partners, according to Jennifer\u00a0McBee, Kessel Run deputy division chief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, the goal of the training is to automate and accelerate administrative work so\u00a0we\u00a0can dedicate more time to delivering lethal capabilities to\u00a0our operators,\u201d\u00a0McBee\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201cWhen a vendor tells me\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0going to take four months to deliver something, you can look at it and say,\u00a0\u2018I could do that tomorrow using\u00a0AI\u00a0and get it done within a day.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kessel Run is a division within\u00a0the\u00a0Department of the Air Force Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management.
