Maxima, an agentic artificial intelligence platform for enterprise accounting, has launched \u201cMax,\u201d an AI agent that takes on the manual and recurring preparation work consuming enterprise accounting teams\u2014from payroll entries and accrued operating expenses to balance sheet reconciliations and variance explanations. <\/p>\n

Max prepares the work and routes it to accountants for review, but nothing posts to the general ledger without their approval, Maxima says.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes as Maxima has surpassed $400 billion in accounting transaction volume processed on its platform, with deployments at enterprises including Rippling, Miro, Zendesk, Scale AI, and Bilt Rewards.<\/p>\n

Max comes equipped with domain-specific skills to support the full accounting lifecycle, from transaction-level reconciliation to month-end close. Max\u2019s key skills include:\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cash accounting:\u00a0Classifies bank statements, reconciles cash to the general ledger, and prepares cash journal entries.<\/p>\n

Accruals and accounts payable:\u00a0Calculates estimation-based accruals, processes reversing entries, and prepares AP journal entries.<\/p>\n

Payroll:\u00a0Prepares payroll journal entries, reconciles payroll to the general ledger, and calculates compensation accruals.<\/p>\n

Intercompany and allocations:\u00a0Executes intercompany elimination, builds consolidation support, and applies allocation methodology.<\/p>\n

Commissions and equity:\u00a0Capitalizes commissions, tracks equity compensation, and calculates fixed asset depreciation.<\/p>\n

Revenue:\u00a0Recognizes revenue, processes true-ups and reversals, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Every output Max prepares carries a complete audit trail, step by step proof of work, validation checks, and segregated human-in-loop approvals, Maxima says.\u00a0<\/p>\n
