In a report, the Financial Times warned that, \u201cPreventing access to the world\u2019s most advanced AI models represents a threat to Hong Kong\u2019s revival as an international financial centre, given their rapid adoption in other parts of the world, particularly for coding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A US Commerce Department directive this month means <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/tech\/article\/3356990\/us-blocks-foreign-access-anthropics-newest-ai-models-over-security-risks?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">all foreigners are to be denied access<\/a> to Anthropic\u2019s most advanced Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, including Anthropic\u2019s own foreign employees.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The export control directive gave Anthropic just 90 minutes to shut off access, citing national security concerns.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">As events unfold, China\u2019s AI industry may emerge as the real winner.
