{"id":897,"date":"2026-04-08T17:44:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T17:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/897\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T17:44:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T17:44:12","slug":"forbes-ranks-uf-no-2-for-2026-among-public-new-ivies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/897\/","title":{"rendered":"Forbes ranks UF No. 2 for 2026 among public \u2018New Ivies\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;right:0;bottom:0;width:100%;height:100%;z-index:2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/86694998007-gai-hyper-gator-64873.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidplayicon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/appservices\/universal-web\/universal\/icons\/icon-play-alt-white.svg\" alt=\"play\" style=\"height:40px;margin:auto 18px auto 27px;width:40px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>University of Florida Unveils latest HiPerGator AI supercomputer<\/p>\n<p>UF&#8217;s HiPerGator 4.0 supercomputer, powered by Nvidia, it the fastest AI computer at a university in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Florida landed at No. 2 among public universities on Forbes\u2019 2026 \u201cNew Ivies\u201d list, released April 8.<\/p>\n<p>It marks the second time UF has earned the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/education\/2024\/04\/30\/forbes-names-university-of-florida-among-top-public-new-ivy-schools\/73515645007\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/education\/2024\/04\/30\/forbes-names-university-of-florida-among-top-public-new-ivy-schools\/73515645007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">designation <\/a>since the rankings debuted in 2024, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/education\/2025\/04\/28\/forbes-new-ivies-2025-did-any-florida-schools-make-the-list-university-of-florida\/83327853007\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/education\/2025\/04\/28\/forbes-new-ivies-2025-did-any-florida-schools-make-the-list-university-of-florida\/83327853007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">missing <\/a>the list in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The schools included in the rankings were described as leaders in AI adoption for their efforts to prepare students to work with artificial intelligence, including adapting curricula to meet job market needs.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes\u2019 third annual New Ivies ranking lists the top 10 private and public schools in the nation whose alumni are viewed favorably by employers. Forbes surveyed over 100 C-Suite and hiring executives to compile the list. Nearly 25% of those surveyed for the rankings said AI would reduce their need for entry level college graduates. But that news shouldn\u2019t discourage new college graduates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"related-link\">Higher ed: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/education\/campus\/2026\/04\/07\/uf-graduate-programs-highly-rated-by-u-s-news-world-report-2026\/89487332007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UF earns top marks in latest U.S. News graduate program rankings<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those who succeed in the age of AI, executives said, will be comfortable using the technology to improve their work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI won\u2019t fully replace all those entry-level jobs, but those people that know how to use AI will replace those that don&#8217;t know how to use AI,\u201d said Rice University Provost Amy Dittmar in a press release.. Rice University ranked No. 7 on the &#8220;New Ivies&#8221; private school list.<\/p>\n<p>UF has strengthened its commitment to artificial intelligence in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Nvidia cofounder and alumnus Chris Malachowsky donated $50 million, including hardware, software and training and services, to UF to jumpstart AI research at the university, which offers a nine-credit AI fundamentals and applications certificate to undergraduates and AI certificates in disciplines like tourism and hospitality, public health and health care, and the arts. UF\u2019s 4th generation AI supercomputer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/story\/news\/2025\/10\/16\/university-of-florida-unveils-4th-generation-hipergator-ai-supercomputer\/86715721007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">HiPerGator<\/a> was unveiled late last year.<\/p>\n<p>The university has also hired dozens of staff with expertise in AI and offers over 200 AI-related courses to students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUniversities need to get ahead of the curve as artificial intelligence reshapes industries from engineering to the arts. How can they infuse AI into their curricula in a way that will be useful to students today and in five years?
