Watch how this bet could reshape cloud competition and pricing.<\/p>\n<p>Meta has spent billions of dollars on developing artificial intelligence and building data centers to support this strategy. However, insiders estimate that the company could monetize these computing resources directly by selling access to computing power and AI models through its own cloud infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources, Meta is developing plans to launch a cloud platform where it would sell both computing power for AI and the models themselves. Such a move would pit it against the major cloud service players, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, SpaceX through xAI is also considering similar solutions: in May it signed a contract to buy up all capacity at the Colossus 1 data center; SpaceX previously struck similar deals with Google and Reflection AI. This underscores a trend: the winners may be those who own the infrastructure, not just the best set of models.<\/p>\n<p>New Meta Strategy: Monetizing Compute Power<\/p>\n<p>If demand for compute continues and data centers retain value, some analysts warn of the risk of forming a bubble in the infrastructure race due to rapid chip wear. Others doubt whether AI companies will be able to generate enough revenue from end users to justify trillion-dollar investments.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Meta continues to make large investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. In the first quarter, the company said it is committed to spending $182.9 billion on AI infrastructure in the coming years, including major projects in Louisiana and Ohio. The Ohio project, according to Mark Zuckerberg, is to be \u201cManhattan-sized\u201d and become operational this year.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Google and OpenAI, Meta has not yet shown significant demand for its own models and services. Revenue from Meta AI or Llama is not disclosed separately in financial reporting, and executives generally emphasize AI use inside the company and for corporate needs. This may indicate that the AI division is not yet a standalone profit center.<\/p>\n<p>To recoup part of the costs, Meta could borrow a CoreWeave model and sell access to \u201craw\u201d computing power. It is also considering selling access to various models  \u2013  including the recently launched closed Muse Spark model  \u2013  on its own infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The new business line is part of an initiative called Meta Compute.
