Both companies are developing in-house AI accelerators, and Samsung could help fabricate those chips using its cutting-edge 2nm process technology.\n<\/p>\n<p>With new orders starting to come in, Samsung Foundry appears to be moving back toward profitability. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-on-track-to-begin-teslas-16-5-billion-ai-chip-production-in-2027\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently secured a $16.5 billion contract<\/a> from Tesla to manufacture its AI6 chips using Samsung\u2019s 2nm process. It also produces the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/samsung-makes-groq-3-lpu-chips-nvidia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">latest LPUs for Groq<\/a>, a strategic technology partner of Nvidia.\n<\/p>\n<p>Now, SEDaily is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sedaily.com\/article\/20063585\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> that Samsung Foundry has been selected to manufacture Meta\u2019s third-generation Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips. The South Korean firm could produce AI chips worth more than KRW 10 trillion (~$6.54 billion) using its advanced 2nm process.\n<\/p>\n<p>TSMC manufactured Meta\u2019s first- and second-generation MTIA chips, but Samsung Foundry is expected to produce the third-generation version, reportedly because TSMC\u2019s advanced manufacturing capacity is fully booked by major customers such as AMD, Apple, MediaTek, Nvidia, and Qualcomm.\n<\/p>\n<p>Meta reportedly plans to build AI data centers with a combined capacity of 5GW by 2030 and wants to reduce its dependence on third-party AI accelerators from companies such as AMD and Nvidia. It also aims to release a new generation of AI chips every six months as part of an aggressive development cycle. To achieve that goal, Meta is reportedly working closely with Samsung\u2019s System LSI division on chip design.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAnthropic exploring a chip manufacturing deal with Samsung Foundry\n<\/p>\n<p>Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI assistant, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/anthropic-talks-samsung-manufacture-custom-ai-chip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reportedly<\/a> exploring Samsung Foundry\u2019s 2nm process for its in-house AI accelerator chips. Like Meta, it wants to reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers such as AMD and Nvidia.\n<\/p>\n<p>The AI company is reportedly planning AI data centers with a total capacity of 1GW, with expected investments of around $50 billion. About half of that investment is expected to be spent on hardware, including custom AI chips (ASICs), DRAM, and NAND flash memory.\n<\/p>\n<p>Since Samsung is one of the few companies that can both manufacture advanced chips and supply memory products such as DRAM and NAND flash, Anthropic is reportedly interested in forming a strategic partnership with the South Korean firm.\n<\/p>\n<p>Samsung previously invested $65 billion in Anthropic as part of its Series H funding round in May 2026. The company has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/after-tesla-samsung-eyes-self-driving-chip-deal-with-byd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">also reportedly received<\/a> chip manufacturing orders from Chinese automaker BYD.
