THEIR DECISION WILL AFFECT UNINCORPORATED BUTLER COUNTY, ALONG WITH HANOVER, MADISON, OXFORD, ROSS, MILFORD AND LEHMAN TOWNSHIPS. IT DOES NOT AFFECT CITIES LIKE HAMILTON. HERE IN HAMILTON, WHERE AN 80 MEGAWATT BILLION DOLLAR DATA CENTER IS BEING CONSIDERED. IT ALSO COMES AFTER LEHMAN TOWNSHIP WAS EYED FOR A DATA CENTER DEVELOPMENT. BUT LEADERS THERE ASKED FOR A PAUSE THAT GIVES THEM TIME TO REVIEW THE POSSIBLE IMPACTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT, UTILITIES AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY. BUTLER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SAY THE MORATORIUM WILL ALLOW THEM TO LOOK MUCH MORE CLOSELY AT THE ISSUE. ALSO, THERE WAS QUESTIONS WHICH WE ASKED OF THE DEVELOPERS, AND THEY WEREN\u2019T ABLE TO GIVE US SPECIFIC ANSWERS. AND I DON\u2019T KNOW WHETHER THEY DID KNOW OR BUT BUT THE THING ABOUT SIGN HERE AND WILL WORK IT OUT. WE DON\u2019T DO THAT. SO, SO SO THIS GIVES US TIME TO SEE WHAT\u2019S GOING TO HAPPEN HERE LOCALLY. AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE REGION HAVE ALSO BEEN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. MONROE BAND DATA CENTERS. LAST YEAR, CINCINNATI FOREST PARK, MORGAN AND HAMILTON TOWNSHIPS ALSO IMPLEMENTED MORATORIUMS. AND JUST THIS WEEK, GOSHEN TOWNSHIP UPDATED THEIR ZONING RULES TO ALLOW DATA CENTERS WITH CONDITIONS. LEBANON ALSO DID SO RECENTLY. THIS ALSO COMES AS DEMOCRATIC LEADERS URGE THE GOVERNOR THIS WEEK TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION ON RISING ELECTRIC RATES FOR OHIOANS TIED TO DATA CENTERS.
