Details about NHL legend Claude Lemieux\u2019s will have been released following his death<\/a> at age 60 in May.<\/p>\n

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly show that Claude left \u201call of [his] estate\u201d to a trust initially set up alongside his wife, Deborah Lemieux, in September 2008 and last amended in 2021. (TMZ was the first to report the news.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI nominate and appoint Deborah Lemieux as the Personal Representative to administer my estate,\u201d he wrote in a document filed in Arizona.<\/p>\n

Claude specified that should Deborah \u201cfail to qualify or cease to act\u201d as administrator of his will, their children Brendan and Claudia Lemieux would become his \u201cco-representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNHL legend Claude Lemieux was thinking about a career change shortly before his death by suicide on Thursday, May 28.\u00a0 \u201cStill struggling so much with Claude Lemieux\u2019s death,\u201d NHL insider Pierre LeBrun shared via X on Sunday, May 31. \u201cHe was someone I talked [with] about the game and the business of the game. I [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Claude\u2019s two sons from his first marriage, Christopher and Michael, were not mentioned when naming his personal representatives or beneficiaries. Claude\u2019s beneficiaries were listed as Deborah, Brendan, Claudia, grandson Luc, 2, and granddaughter Sutton, 6 months.<\/p>\n

On June 27, 2026, Claude\u2019s estate filed a notice of trust in a Palm Beach County, Florida, probate court to establish its liability for \u201cthe expenses of the administration of the decedent\u2019s estate and enforceable claims of the decedent\u2019s creditors to the extent that the decedent\u2019s estate is insufficient to pay them.\u201d<\/p>\n

A subsequent petition filed in a Florida circuit court on June 30 sought to formally establish that Deborah is \u201cqualified to serve as Personal Representative of the decedent\u2019s estate because she has not been convicted of a felony [and] is mentally and physically able to perform the duties of Personal Representative.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the exact monetary value of the estate was not specified, the court was informed that its \u201capproximate value is estimated to be in excess\u201d of $75,000.<\/p>\n

The NHL Alumni Association broke the news on May 28 that the four-time Stanley Cup winner died at age 60<\/a> only a few days after making an appearance at Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

A Beach County Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesperson subsequently confirmed to Us that the hockey star was found dead at Andros Home showroom in the 200 block of North Congress Avenue in Lake Park, Florida. A medical examiner determined that Claude died by suicide and his body had been discovered in \u201cthe rear warehouse by his son.\u201d<\/p>\n

Claude was survived by his wife, Deborah, daughter Claudia, and sons Brendan, Christopher and Michael.<\/p>\n

The Lemieux family confirmed on May 30 that they would donate his brain<\/a> to the UNITE Brain Bank at the Boston University CTE Center for research into \u201cthe long-term effects of repetitive head impacts and traumatic brain injury.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tClaudia Lemieux-Bishop, the daughter of late NHL star Claude Lemieux, shared an impactful picture from the day of her father\u2019s burial.\u00a0 \u201cBuried dad in the mountains,\u201d Claudia shared via her Instagram Story on Monday, June 22, alongside a photo of herself, her brother Brendan and his son, Luc, who was born in March 2025, walking [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cClaude dedicated his post-play career to helping the next generation,\u201d his family said in a statement. \u201cBy allowing his name to be connected to this research, we hope his life can contribute to greater understanding, more honest conversations, and better protection for athletes and families in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
