Actress and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon is advocating for more women to learn about artificial intelligence (AI), but not everyone is on board.<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old, who founded the media company Hello Sunshine, which prioritises women-led storytelling, says the AI revolution has begun<\/a>.<\/p>\n Witherspoon says “women are using AI at a rate 25% lower than men on average”.<\/p>\n “I think it’s time to learn about AI before it gets too far ahead of us,” she says in a video shared on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n The founder of Reese’s Book Club says she recently chatted with a group of 10 women and was surprised to learn that only a few were using AI.<\/p>\n “Only three of them used AI. And then I said, ‘How many of the three of you feel like you really know what you are doing?’ And there was only one person.<\/p>\n So if 3 out of 10 women are the only ones using AI, that means 70% of that group is not keeping up.”<\/p>\n Witherspoon adds that if women don’t get a little understanding from the very beginning, it will just speed past them.<\/p>\n “You have to have little bits of learning just to keep up. And let’s get real, our kids are all using this every single day.”<\/p>\n While Witherspoon stressed that women need to be in these conversations, some social media users oppose the idea.<\/p>\n “Did they pay you to say this?” one woman asked. “This is not about women empowerment! This has nothing to do with women, maybe only the fact that mostly women are the ones who care about the environment! nd this is why we dont want to use it, besides it will be used against us.”<\/p>\n
