{"id":98737,"date":"2026-07-08T08:26:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T08:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/98737\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T08:26:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T08:26:14","slug":"new-coalition-puts-childrens-rights-at-the-centre-of-the-ai-age-global-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/98737\/","title":{"rendered":"New coalition puts children\u2019s rights at the centre of the AI age \u2014 Global Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Coalition for Children\u2019s Rights and Protection in the Age of Artificial Intelligence brings together governments, UN agencies, tech companies, civil society groups, educators and child welfare experts, all working from the same starting point: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/instruments-mechanisms\/instruments\/convention-rights-child\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/instruments-mechanisms\/instruments\/convention-rights-child\" data-mce- rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/a>, the most widely ratified human rights treaty in the world. <\/p>\n<p>The coalition was launched at the UN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/global-dialogue-ai-governance\/en\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/global-dialogue-ai-governance\/en\" data-mce- rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Global Dialogue on AI Governance<\/a>, which took place over two days starting Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Its founding UN members are the Department of Global Communications (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/department-global-communications\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/department-global-communications\" data-mce- rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DGC<\/a>), the UN human rights office (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/pages\/home.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OHCHR<\/a>), the International Telecommunication Union (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/Pages\/default.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ITU<\/a>), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/digital-emerging-technologies\/\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/digital-emerging-technologies\/\" data-mce- rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies<\/a>, Children\u2019s agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UNICEF<\/a>, and culture and education agency <a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UNESCO<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>Seventeen countries have signed on so far \u2013 Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Luxembourg, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea and Spain. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/image1170x530cropped.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1170\" height=\"530\" alt=\"A panel of diverse participants discusses children's rights and AI governance at the ITU Global Dialogue in Geneva, with an audience in attendance.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 ITU\/D.
