In der spanischen Exklave\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0in Nordafrika hat der gro\u00dfe Andrang von Migranten<\/a> zwar nachgelassen \u2013 doch die Folgen der Krise sind in Europa l\u00e4ngst nicht vorbei. Heute wollen sich Experten der EU-Mitgliedstaaten in einer Krisensitzung \u00fcber die Entwicklungen austauschen, wie ein Sprecher der irischen Ratspr\u00e4sidentschaft mitteilte.<\/p>\n

„Keine einzige Person hat die Grenze zum EU-Festland \u00fcberschritten“, versicherte EU-Migrationskommissar Magnus Brunner. Nach Angaben des spanischen Au\u00dfenministers Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares sind nahezu alle der mindestens 50.000 irregul\u00e4r eingereisten Menschen von\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0nach Marokko zur\u00fcckgekehrt. Mindestens 57 Menschen waren beim \u00dcberqueren der Grenze nach\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0\u00fcbers Meer ums Leben gekommen.<\/a><\/p>\n

Angesichts kaum vorhandener Aussichten auf eine Weiterreise sowie fehlender Unterkunft und Versorgung h\u00e4tten die Menschen entt\u00e4uscht und freiwillig die R\u00fcckreise angetreten, berichtete die Zeitung „El Pa\u00eds“. Trotzdem versuchten am Freitag weitere Hunderte Menschen, in die beiden spanischen Exklaven\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0und Melilla zu gelangen, wie Medien berichteten.\u00a0<\/p>\n

An der Grenze zwischen Marokko und Melilla kam es laut dem staatlichen Fernsehsender RTVE zu Auseinandersetzungen mit Beamten. Mehrere Menschen h\u00e4tten Steine auf die Sicherheitskr\u00e4fte geschleudert, w\u00e4hrend diese Tr\u00e4nengas eingesetzt h\u00e4tten. Zun\u00e4chst war unklar, ob einige der Migranten nach Melilla gelangt waren. In\u00a0Ceuta, wo die Menschen in den vergangenen Tagen \u00fcberwiegend schwimmend ankamen, verhinderten spanische Soldaten den Zugang vom Meer zum Strand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Spanien: Solidarit\u00e4t ist freiwillig, europ\u00e4ische Vertr\u00e4ge nicht<\/p>\n

Spaniens Ministerpr\u00e4sident Pedro S\u00e1nchez konterte die Kritik einiger EU-Mitgliedstaaten<\/a> an der spanischen Migrationspolitik. Er rief dazu auf, an einem starken und geeinten Europa weiterzubauen \u2013 und Europa nicht zu spalten. „Solidarit\u00e4t und Mitgef\u00fchl sind freiwillig“, schrieb er auf der Plattform X. Die Achtung der europ\u00e4ischen Vertr\u00e4ge sei es jedoch nicht.<\/p>\n

Italien hat nach Angaben der rechten Regierung in Rom das\u00a0Schengen-Abkommen \u00fcber den freien Personenverkehr in der EU gegen\u00fcber Spanien vor\u00fcbergehend ausgesetzt. Bei Reisen mit dem Flugzeug oder Schiff sollen wieder Grenzkontrollen durchgef\u00fchrt werden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Was ist der Schengen-Raum?<\/p>\n

Der\u00a0Schengen-Raum ist ein Gebiet in Europa, in dem Menschen grunds\u00e4tzlich ohne Grenzkontrollen reisen k\u00f6nnen. Dazu geh\u00f6ren insgesamt 29 L\u00e4nder, darunter EU-Staaten wie Deutschland und Frankreich, aber auch Nicht-EU-L\u00e4nder wie die Schweiz, Norwegen, Island und Liechtenstein.\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0und Melilla geh\u00f6ren nicht zum\u00a0Schengen-Raum. Ein dauerhafter Ausschluss eines Landes aus dem\u00a0Schengen-Raum gegen dessen Willen ist in den EU-Regeln nicht vorgesehen.<\/p>\n

Frankreichs Pr\u00e4sident Emmanuel Macron bekundete Solidarit\u00e4t mit Spanien, lie\u00df aber zugleich die Kontrollen an der gemeinsamen Grenze verst\u00e4rken. Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz forderte die spanische Regierung auf, die Situation schnellstm\u00f6glich wieder in den Griff zu bekommen. „Der Schutz der Au\u00dfengrenzen der Europ\u00e4ischen Union ist entscheidend f\u00fcr die Bek\u00e4mpfung illegaler Migration“, betonte der CDU-Politiker.<\/p>\n

Ceuta ist kleiner als der Frankfurter Flughafen<\/p>\n

Ceuta\u00a0hat weniger als 85.000 Einwohner und ist mit einer Fl\u00e4che von nur 18,5 Quadratkilometern etwas kleiner als der Frankfurter Flughafen. In der Nacht auf Freitag hatten Tausende Migranten in\u00a0Ceuta\u00a0auf den Stra\u00dfen \u00fcbernachtet.<\/p>\n
