Sydney’s stretch of gloomy spring weather will continue into Wednesday morning, with low cloud, drizzle and poor visibility expected to linger along much of the NSW coast.
News24 meteorologist Alison Osborne said a thick deck of cloud sitting over Sydney and coastal NSW would be slow to clear, potentially creating difficult driving conditions during the morning commute.
Sydney’s stretch of gloomy spring weather will continue into Wednesday morning, with low cloud, drizzle and poor visibility expected to linger along much of the NSW coast.
News24 meteorologist Alison Osborne said Sydney and much of the NSW coast had been sitting “under a 4000ft deck of cloud and a field of drizzle”, with the conditions likely to stick around into Wednesday morning.
She warned the low cloud could make for “dicey driving conditions” during the morning commute because of reduced visibility.
The drizzle should gradually ease through the afternoon and evening, with Sydney reaching a top of 22C.
Further north, showers will build across coastal Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Townsville and Cairns.
Attention will also turn inland after bushfires burned out of control through Queensland’s South Burnett on Tuesday, including an emergency warning for Teelah.
Osborne said showers were possible around the firegrounds on Wednesday, but another risk was emerging further south.
She said forecasters were watching for “dry lightning” during the afternoon west of Goondiwindi and into north-west NSW, warning it “could start fires”.
Western Australia will remain unsettled, with wild storms continuing after severe weather warnings were issued across the Goldfields on Tuesday.
Osborne said storms were expected “daily for the rest of the week” across southern WA.
Elsewhere, conditions will be considerably calmer.
Melbourne will warm to 20C after a cold start, while Adelaide is heading for a sunny 25C.
Hobart will reach 19C, Canberra 21C and Darwin 34C.
Osborne warned the quieter spell will be short-lived, with “more Spring weather craziness ahead” from Thursday.
