Police have slammed a daredevil who scaled Sydney’s tallest building without any safety equipment.
A man filmed himself climbing underneath a construction site at 55 Pitt St in Sydney, scaling a 300m crane that towered over the city.
The man had no safety equipment as he ascended the construction site, and was undetected by the security guards.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the move was “absolutely stupid”.
“There is no activity to go onto social media that’s putting yourself at this type of risk,” he said.
Footage of the daredevil showed him scaling the construction site before looking down at the city.
Speaking to 9News, he said he couldn’t describe the feeling of sitting on top of the building.
“Me being up there all alone above everyone else in the city is really indescribable,” he said.
He said he had scaled the building four times before, and disagreed the move was “absolutely stupid”.
“There are a lot of things that are absolutely stupid,” he said.
“People driving, that could be absolutely stupid.
“There’s more people crashing their cars than falling off cranes at the end of the day.”
NSW Police are aware of the vision, but did not receive any reports of the daredevil’s actions.
