Dockers fans Matthew Abbott and Danni Bloomfield made their Grand Final day unforgettable, tying the knot outside the MCG before a crowd of fellow Fremantle faithful.

The Perth couple were married on Grand Final morning in the gardens around the stadium, dressed in traditional wedding attire, adding matching Fremantle scarves to the occasion.

Ms Bloom also carried a bouquet in the club’s purple and white colours.

Originally the couple were set to wed next week, they brought the ceremony forward to coincide with Fremantle’s Grand Final appearance.

“We decided to bring it forward a few days and celebrate with the best people on the planet,” Mr Abbott said.

When asked what would be the ultimate wedding gift Ms Bloom, dressed all in white with a purple scarf, said “for Freo to bring home that cup”.

Elsewhere outside the ground, lifelong Lions fans Michelle Parr-Smith, 36, Leah Grose, 36, and Thomas Grose, 9, flew down from Brisbane in eager anticipation of a third straight premiership.

“I was a fan back when the Lions got their last three-peat,” Ms Grose said.

“It’s going to be awesome for Thomas to see a three-peat as well.”

Ms Parr-Smith said she was “stoked” to be seeing pop sensation Kylie Minogue take the stage before kick-off.

“It’s just an extra bonus,” she said.

For Freo fan Paul Hughes, 45, and his daughters Anja and Claire making the Grand Final is the culmination of a long journey for the underdog west coast side.

“It’s almost a privilege to be here finally,” Mr Hughes said.

“We’ve always been an underdog team, it’s going to be a tough game but I think the conditions are going to balance things a bit.”

From beneath a purple wig 19-year-old Anja added, “we came for the Dockers, but we’ll stay to see Kylie Minogue”.
