Greenacre

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a truck that crashed into a power pole in Sydney’s southwest.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Hume Highway and Shellcote Rd, Greenacre, at 3.15pm on Monday following reports of a crash.

Officers were told a truck had struck a power pole and a pedestrian before coming to a stop near a tree.

The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, suffered head injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver, a 17-year-old boy, was uninjured and taken to Bankstown Hospital for further assessment.

A crime scene was established at the intersection, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit to examine the scene as investigations continue.

Sydney Trains

Sydney train commuters are facing delays after urgent signal repairs at Clyde disrupted services across multiple lines.

Passengers travelling on the T1 North Shore Line, T2 Inner West and Leppington Line, T3 Liverpool and Inner West Line and T5 Cumberland Line have been urged to allow extra travel time.

Blue Mountains Line services are also affected, with trains potentially departing from different platforms and stopping for longer than usual at stations or between stops. Many services are running more than 20 minutes late.

Sydney Trains has warned that stopping patterns and platforms may change at short notice.

Commuters travelling on the North Shore Line away from the city have been told to allow extra time, while T2 and T3 passengers travelling towards the city have also been warned of delays.

T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line services are also experiencing disruption following earlier urgent train repairs, although frequent services are continuing to operate, with some stops changed.

Passengers have been urged to check transport apps and station information screens before boarding, and listen for announcements.

Central Tilba

A man is due to face court over a fatal crash on the NSW South Coast in which a woman died after allegedly being struck by a car.

Emergency services were called to Mt Dromedary Trail in Central Tilba shortly before 1am on January 5, following reports a woman had been struck by a sedan.

Police will allege the 36-year-old woman was on the roadway when she was hit by the car, which then collided with a utility that had rolled onto its side a short time earlier.

All three were treated by paramedics for minor injuries and taken to Moruya Hospital as a precaution. The 36-year-old woman died a short time later.

South Coast Police District officers established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police will allege the sedan was unregistered and that its 32-year-old driver returned a positive result for alcohol following blood analysis.

The man was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice on July 1 for alleged dangerous driving occasioning death while under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving and using an unregistered vehicle on a road.

His licence was suspended and he is due to appear at Bega Local Court on October 13.

The 32-year-old driver of the utility was also issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for negligent driving. That matter was dealt with at Narooma Local Court on September 17.

Police said all parties involved were known to one another.
