It was a bittersweet afternoon for the Warriors, who made a massive statement with a thumping 42-12 win over the Broncos. Unfortunately, they may have lost star half Tanah Boyd to a potentially serious knee injury.

Boyd suffered the injury inside the first ten minutes and soon after he limped off the field, Fox League’s Lara Pitt reported that the club suspect the worst.

It’s unfortunate timing for the Warriors given they let Luke Metcalf sign with the Dragons from next season.

“Tanah Boyd came off “close to tears”. The Warriors are calling it a suspected ACL,” Pitt said.

Despite the tough scenes, the Warriors didn’t let it keep them down, scoring seven tries to Brisbane’s two.

Boyd’s replacement Te Maire Martin was superb, scoring a try and setting up two more while Dallin Watene-Zelezniak added two tries to his 2026 tally.

Broncos star Reece Walsh, who is reportedly behind Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in the Maroons’ No. 1 race, desperately tried to bolster his Origin case with teams to be announced tomorrow morning, but the Brisbane fullback had an ordinary showing.

He was involved in some late drama after being forced off the field for a HIA. Walsh clearly wasn’t happy with the decision.

“Reece was furious coming off the ground,” Pitt said.

“It was a puzzling call given Mitch Barnett wasn’t penalised for the tackle which led to Walsh being sent for a HIA.

“That’s a breakdown in the system,” Andrew Voss said.
