A much anticipated development in the state’s northeast, which has seen nearly 3000 interested buyers register to pick up the first parcels of land, is finally set to get underway.

The state government rezoned land near the Golden Grove quarry in January to facilitate the new homes, with Planning Minister Nick Champion signing two code amendments.

Officially launched as Amberleigh, the master planned community estate in Golden Grove was granted approval by local council in September and will feature up to 1000 homes across the 104 hectares.

YAS Property and Development CEO, Tim Shahin, said the development was aimed for growing families wanting to upgrade, with the average block size to be approximately 500 square meters in stage 1.

“We are introducing a new community that has been in the planning stages for more than six years to ensure that its residents, as well as the existing suburb of Golden Grove, benefit from a sustainable and expertly designed development,” Mr Shahin said.

“Amberleigh will not only create much-needed housing opportunities, it will also add significant value and benefit to local commerce and industry in Golden Grove.

“It ticks all of the boxes for future owners, current residents of Golden Grove, as well as local and state government.”

The master planned estate will see wide streets, open green space, playgrounds and open communal areas.

In January, Mr Champion said Golden Golden had much to offer and was already connected to services, nature and infrastructure, including the Stables Shopping Centre and public transport.

“These planning changes have been informed by a meticulous consultation process that ensures we can capitalise on land that we need for homes without impacting on the work of the quarry or having the work of the quarry impact on residents,” Mr Champion said.

Residents will have access to a variety of local destinations such as Harpers Field, Golden Fields Adventure Playground, Golden Grove Recreation and Arts Centre plus several public independent and catholic high schools.

The first stage of the development will see construction start by the middle of next year.

Buyers will be allowed to choose their builder, with some of the states leading home-building companies expected to be involved.
