Police have raided a Burleigh Heads apartment belonging to the partner of former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
Officers attended the luxury beachfront unit of Dr Reza Adib on Thursday afternoon and declared a crime scene.
Footage, captured by Seven News, showed police searching throughout the apartment, including inside a barbeque, before leaving with a large brown paper bag filled with items.
Dr Adib was not believed to be at the property during the raid and he has not been charged with any offences.
The search came hours before Ms Palaszczuk was due to appear publicly to promote her memoir The Politics of Me at an event at Robina Library.
She arrived at the venue about 5pm, roughly 90 minutes before the event began, and appeared composed as she addressed the audience of about 200 people.
The former premier was interviewed on stage by ABC Gold Coast presenter Nicole Dyer.
According to The Courier Mail, some attendees were overheard discussing the police raid during the event.
During the event, a journalist asked whether she would continue to support Dr Adib.
“I’m not aware of any of that so I can’t comment,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
She declined to speak to a large media pack after the event had finished.
Ms Palaszczuk was also scheduled to appear on 4BC Drive with Gary Hardgrave on Thursday afternoon, but cancelled about 15 minutes before the interview was due to go to air.
Ms Palaszczuk and Dr Adib have been together since mid-2021.
The pair met at a race day in June that year and quickly formed a long-term relationship, with Ms Palaszczuk later describing him as a “loving partner” in her memoir.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Ms Palaszczuk.
Investigations are ongoing.
