The Tigers are in front

The second quarter is going very well for Richmond.

They forced a turnover when Charlie Cameron tried to do too much with it on the wing.

The Tigers then hit back, going down the line quickly before a long kick that hit Tim Taranto in the pocket.

The Tigers veteran steadied and took his set shot, steering the ball through as the crowd goes wild.

Richmond is back in front in time on in the second term.

Tigers close in with goal to Alger

It’s not getting any easier for the Lions, whose defence is under real pressure here.

The Tigers are getting repeat chances, and they’ve hit a target inside 50 with a mark to Jasper Alger.

He kicks it, and Richmond is within two points!

Another chance wasted for the Tigers

The Tigers are raising the intensity, and creating chances.

Noah Balta took a great defensive mark, then as Richmond cleared upfield, he turned into an attacking weapon.

The big man took another mark on the left wing, and then kicked across 50 to hit James Trezise.

The set shot went wild, but there are some danger signs for Brisbane here.

Steely Green blows a chance for Richmond

Brisbane is in a fight here, despite their lead.

The Tigers are looking dangerous, and they were in there, with Steely Green getting a mark/free near the goals there.

Instead of going back, though, he decided to try the snap around the corner and sprayed it way wide – it barely went in for a point.

Chance wasted there.

Conor McKenna gets the early goal for the Lions

Richmond has started the second quarter well, and they should have had a goal early, but a kick went out on the full.

The Lions came back, and they fed it forward before a couple of punches along the ground to hit up Conor McKenna.

The Irishman steadied and snapped a goal. That will be very frustrating for Richmond. They could have been ahead, instead being down by nine.

QT: Brisbane 4.4 (28) leads Richmond 4.1 (25)Zac Bailey of the Lions celebrates a goal during the 2026 AFL Round 14 match between the Richmond Tigers and the Brisbane Lions on June 14, 2026 in Hobart, Australia.Zac Bailey’s brilliant checkside goal from the pocket was one of the early highlights at Bellerive Oval (Getty Images/AFL Photos)

A late miss from Logan Morris leaves the margin three points to Brisbane at quarter time.

Chris Fagan might be a little concerned at how Richmond are getting the ball to their big forwards.

The Lions have hit back late to hit the front, but they certainly have not had things all their own way. Still, that was worth watching solely for Zac Bailey’s brilliant banana goal from the pocket.

If you’re a Tigers fan, it’s been an encouraging opening term.

Brisbane reply through Bruce Reville

That didn’t take long!

The Lions went forward, spread the ball inside 50.

It came back out, but Bruce Reville was on hand to snap a goal.

Update

There are plenty of Tigers fans in attendance at Bellerive Oval if the crowd mics are to be believed.

They are getting value for money early – the Tigers are leading and causing Brisbane problems.

They went straight for the edge of 50, where Liam Fawcett took a clean grab.

The forward went back and drilled it from the arc. They lead by 10 points late in the quarter!

Logan Morris does his thing – and the Lions edge in front

It’s goal for goal at Bellerive!

The Lions hit back, with Cam Rayner kicking a lovely pass to hit a leading Logan Morris deep in the left forward pocket.

As we know, Morris CAN kick a goal – he had seven against Gold Coast last time out – and he’s done it again here, curling it home from a difficult angle.

The Lions lead again in time on.

Liam Fawcett kicks one on the run for Tigers

This is some opening term in Hobart!

The Tigers are not letting the Lions away with anything.

Liam Fawcett has just got the ball just inside 50, dodged and weaved and snapped a beauty!

It’s three goals to two, in Richmond’s favour!

Zac Bailey kicks a brilliant goal for Brisbane

Anything you can do, we can do better …

The Lions have answered quickly, and in style.

They went down the right wing, the ball came to Zac Bailey, who stepped inside a Tigers defender and crushed a checkside kick perfectly from 50.

Brisbane is back ahead.

Taranto puts Richmond in front

The last time the Tigers played, they lost by more than 100 points to Sydney.

Not today, apparently… Tim Taranto has kicked a goal to put the Tigers in front by four points halfway through the opening term.

Great start for Richmond!

There’s a lot going on early

We’re having a fair bit of action early.

The Tigers have lifted their pressure, and they very nearly had Darcy Gardiner caught at the back. The umpire said he got his handball away and that’s the main thing.

But the Lions are capable of moving it at speed, and they did – Will Ashcroft finished things off at the other end, but his kick missed.

Brisbane leads by two.

Brisbane dominating the forward entries

So far, the inside 50s count is seven to Brisbane, one to Richmond.

Fortunately for the Tigers, they kicked a goal from that one forward entry.

Jasper Alger answers for the Tigers

The Lions have held the Tigers in their own half for most of the first four minutes, but they let things slip just there.

The Tigers finally found a mark inside the forward half, they went long to a contest, and it came off hands and Steely Green was there to race clear and kick it to Jasper Alger in the square.

Alger kicked the goal, and Richmond are on the board!

Lachie Neale gets the opening goal for Brisbane!

The Lions have made a more fluid start. They forced Richmond to rush a behind to open the scoring.

But then Brisbane intercepted a long kick down the line. A couple of handballs fed it to Lachie Neale, and the Lions star thumped it home from the edge of 50.

Good start for the Lions.
