Family weren’t well known to police, had no record of domestic violence

It’s clear from Superintendent Healey’s answers that we’re unlikely to hear much about what police believe happened at the home before the killings in Rosemeadow last night — or why the 32-year-old suspect returned to the crime scene.

“It’s very early in the investigation, so I can’t speculate,” he says.

He adds that the suspect is currently being interviewed by police, and he’s not privy to what’s been said in that interview.

The family weren’t well known to police at all, he says, and had never interacted with police in relation to domestic violence.

Police establish family connection

The 32yo man is assisting police with inquiries.

Police believe the people in the 60s were the parents and the 37-year-old man found at the property was the brother.

“We know it’s a family unit and we’re trying to work our way through what happened during the evening.”

Police describe finding ‘very grisly crime scene’ upon arrival at Rosemeadow house

Superintendent Healey from the Campbelltown City Police Area Command is standing up now.

He says police called to the scene of last night’s violent incident in Rosemeadow encountered a “very grisly crime scene” when they arrived.

Officers first encountered a 61-year-old woman, he says, who they took into the yard and tried to administer first aid to.

They then went back inside the house and found a 64-year-old man who was still alive but had serious head injuries.

Police later found a 37-year-old man dead in a granny flat at the rear of the property.
