40′ Tutuva has a corked thigh
I think that’s a cork at least – he was collected hard by Siosifa Talakai as he slipped into a tackle.
He’s limping about in backfield.

39′ Penalty Sharks
There is a battle for the ball off another towering kick.
The Tigers knock the ball on and then Sharks knock the ball on too.
But the Tigers, unhappy with the call of knock on, kick the ball away and give away a penalty for dissent.
That’s poor.
The Sharks will have a chance,

38′ Tom Hazleton is on report
I must admit, I don’t know why.

37′ Madden breaks, but then gets intercepted!
That is really, really good from Jock Madden.
He has looked up on the last, raced through the splintered line and raced through into open space.
The Tigers feel like they have a chance here and flood forward, but his looping pass out wide, a speculator, is intercepted.

35′ Easy for the Sharks!
That was very simple in the end.
Off the back of a couple of set restarts, Jesse Colquhoun burrowed over from very close range to score.
Easy as you like.
Hynes adds the extras and it’s 18-10 to the hosts.

31′ Sharks challenge
Siosifa Talakai has been pinged for playing at a grubber and deflecting it out of play as the Tigers came forward.
However, he’s challenged this and – incredibly – he’s going to get away with it.
Footwork that a ballroom dancer would be pleased with sees Talakai shuffle across, not looking up or making any major movements with his feet so it’s going to be overturned as a turnover.
That’s brilliant footwork from Talakai – stick a bat in his hand and make him open. Lovely stuff.

27′ Penalty Tigers
Tom Hazleton (198 cm) is a bit high on Sunia Turuva (181 cm).
He accepts that this is the natural way of things, the big Sharks forward.
And the Tigers have a chance inside the Sharks half.

22′ Really, Rudolf?
I’d have backed the red nosed reindeer to catch the ball off a short pass out of his own 10 – but that was a skill beyond Toby Rudolf at that kick off.
A poor mistake immediately after scoring and the Wests Tigers have ideal field position with a scrum on the Sharks 10.

21′ Sharks score!
My goodness, that was desperately simple stuff off the back of the scrum.
The Tigers defence on the right side looks woeful.
KL Iro just scooted through after a poor miss by Starford To’a.
He just got himself out of position in the line and allowed Iro to just breeze through.
The right edge will be targeted.
The kick is good, 12-10 the score.

20′ Faaletino Tavana with another error
I make that three in the opening 20 minutes for the 21-year-old.
This one was the worst though – dropping the ball as he takes a run out of his own 10 metre line.

26′ MAGICAL TIGERS!
That’s really nice from the Tigers.
They move the ball really well after some lovely interplay between Jock Madden and Jarome Luai.
It’s Luai’s pass that releases Samuela Fainu for a linebreak. He passes to Taylan May who scoots away to score.
Very, very good from the Tigers.
And the big Shark Park crowd is silenced.

14′ Turuva gets lucky
Sunia Turuva was very, very lucky there.
The Sharks put a grubber through off the boot of Braydon Trindall.
It sat up ever so temptingly for the Sharks chasers, with Turuva just waiting and waiting and not really scooping it away.
But it’s a penalty for a push in the back by Teig Wilton.

9′ Sharks knock on!
Starford To’a
did just enough to distract Braydon Trindall to catch a high ball.
That sunny area is tough for the outside backs.

8′ Tavana makes another hash out of catching a high ball
I reckon the Sharks might just pepper the young winger with the high ball all day if this continues.
He comes off his wing to try and catch another high bomb and once again drops it.
Luckily for him, Briton Nikora knocks on.

5′ Cronulla open the scoring!

Or do they?
Teig Wilton scores in the corner after the Tigers can’t deal with a bomb into that sunny corner of the field.
Faaletino
Tavana just couldn’t see the ball in the sun I don’t think.
KL Iro gathered and just about got the ball away as he was bashed out of play, inside to Wilton who scores.
The Bunker is looking at it a lot…
BUT IT’S CLEARED! That’s brilliant!

Hynes scores the extras and it’s an early 6-0 lead for the hosts.

1′ We’re underway at Shark Park
Sharks kick off in the sunshine, the Tigers run it back in the shade.
